Nothing yet, but I know I want the flow of a K&N, so I may go with something that integrates the breather holes then adapt an old school cover to it. There's so many options it's mind boggling!

I went with a 4 gallon tank so I could get some distance out of my ride. I like the color on that tank. I went with a D&M Custom Cycle Spike series air intake, it uses a K&N filter. Reason I was asking is because you had asked about your jetting. Since your build is very similar to mine, I would say start out with at least a 45 pilot and a 190 main. I had a 46 and a 185 and I was way lean. I ended up putting an adjustable needle in it ti get it to work right. OF course you are at sea level and I am not.

Good info Johnny! It will be a while before I can actually test it, but that sounds like a good starting point;)

Tapped the old restrictive CV carb fuel inlet with a 6mm tap (5mm is too small) and it fit perfect w/o any drillin:D

Nice work. I used a brass high flow elbow on mine. Had to make a home made puller to get what was left of the old one out. Those plastic fuel inlets always end up leaking.

Thanks! It's hard to believe how dirty and worn out that carb was. I'm replacing most everything in it and it only has 13,000 mi on it. It's prolly not the mileage but the 13 years that has taken it's toll expecially on the accel pump which was toast!

After messing around with the 13 year old CV40 I decided to scrap it and go with the Mikuni HSR42. I don't know if I wouldda left any power on the table with the CV or not, but I'm pretty sure this Mikuni is good for 100Hp+.

Additionally, I really like the Mik's slide smoothness with the accelerator compared to the CV which seemed clunky and sticky. This Mik also seems to be much better engineered in other areas too with a float bowl drain plug and more tuning features then I'll ever need:rolleyes:

Here's the Mik with a K&N filter on it. The filter is easy on and off, but now I have to fab up some type of bracket to hold the carb in place cuz just hangin there off the intake wont cut it. One bump and the whole setup would be rolling down the road:rolleyes:

Actually you should be able to run a bracket from the head breathers
to the back of the air filter for your support, a stock HD air filter or SE air filter
kit would have the bracket, that's typically how it's done...

Yep, I've found those brackets and they aren't expensive, so I may order one and adapt it to my setup. Thanks:)

Today I order a richer main 165 compared to the main jet that came on it that was 160 and a richer slow jet too at 30 while it came with a 25. Theses were recommended by the guy who flowed my heads, so I hope it's a sign of big power & torque numbersto come:)

UPS has my heads and should deliver them middle of next week. So many projects so little time!

    Dyna 2000 ign
    Andrews N4 cams

This motor should pull like a train:D
