Your project is looking good. Nice and clean and lean. Seamless work on the hard tail, too. Very impressive - keep up the good work!

Almost forgot the kickstand bumper post:rolleyes:

I cut it off then was able to throw away the old rear clip. Had to shape it to fit the contour of the hardtail then it fit nicely!

Here's what the new rubber looks like & I've managed to find a nice rear laced wheel to replace the solid one. Anybody need a boat anchor...LOL;)

I'm reusing the rear brake caliper, but it requires a little modification:p

First I took a grinder to it so it would fit. Then chopped off the bottom so I can weld on a chunk of alum plate so it will hold itself in place using the lower part of the rear frame triangle. This may be overkill, but I don't want to ever see a spinning caliper out back;)

I'm considering a set of XR1200 pipes for my project. I like the looks of the V&H Widow# 47537 and the crossover should help tune and extract all the power outta the motor. Anybody know what it would take to get these to fit my 1999 heads?

    Thanks:)

from the looks of the bikes with the pipes you like , look like you'll have the move your brake & shifter way up front & out to the side , not sure about hooking to the heads

As far as I know the exhaust ports are the same on them all 1 3/4"....so you'd just need 4 exhaust studs and nuts;)

Footrest and brake pedal would need relocating though by the look of the pics... for that reason alone V&H would say they only fit 1200XR models...

Thanks Guys, I never even considered the location of the right foot peg & rear brake pedal and relocating them would be a PITA, but not a deal breaker. I just want to avoid cutting them if at all possible cuz it's hard to buy a nice new set of pipes then cut up:)

    Frame is finally primed:D

Painting base & top coats on frame & fender this weekend, so assembly will start in earnest in September and riding season starts in October down here cuz it's just too hot to ride right now!

Wrap on pipes look good for about 200 miles & a bit of getting wet , then ugly set in frame looks good
