2004 Sporty Help/Advice

    Something is obviously too rich. Double check that the choke cable nut is screwing in all the way into the carburetor. In fact remove and clean the plunger in case there is debris blocking it from seating.

    Those were the plugs from before the re-jet. Should have changed them with the project. Hopefully the weather will cooperate tomorrow and I can give the tuning another try.

    One concern I have is if someone prior to you tried to drill the enrichener jet it could be passing too much fuel through that circuit. It's hard for me to see in your picture but I've highlighted it with a red arrow. If you have to pull the carb again I would check to see if that jet was drilled out. I don't have the size at the moment but will get it if you need it.

    This is very unusual to have this much trouble tuning such a clean looking carb but we'll get to the bottom of it.

    I'm thinking that the oversized idle jet that was in there fouled the plugs, and I should have changed them before trying to re-tune. We'll take another shot at it tonight, will post results.
