I have 2 friends with 103 engines, and they both run like bandits. I have also riden a 110 Ultra, stock from H-D. Both the 103's would kick their asses and don't run as hot as the 110's. Ofcourse, the 103's are well tuned, and the 110 was "as is" from Harley.
That said, I'm on a 95" with cams and heads, and really don't feel the need for more HP.
Then again, I felt that way about the 88 too.

With very little work on the 110cu
Cams, pipes, air kit and a tuner.
They HD has a new cam out just for the 110
And I think it was the TW7 Woods cam that he put in his 110cu SE Ultra that he liked so much.
The 110cu runs like a Bandit.

Nothin cam make up for cubic inch. But one of the best engines is a 113cu.
    They wind up fast.

The 110 engine does run hot (temp wise). I had a SE Ultra with a 110 in 07. Dang thing almost burned me up with excess heat. Kept on leaking oil and had blow by at the base gaskets and would leak at other seals. I sold it and bought my 09 96 Ultra with the new frame, anti lock brakes. It don't have the power of the 110 motor but when I can afford a cam then she will be sweet. After having the 110 I was simply not impressed.

If'n I remember right, 07 was like the 1st year of the 110cu motor.
The o rings around the jugs leaked, they could be fixed under warranty.
And the EPA restrictions started gittin stronger.
The reason it was running hot was it wasn't gittin enough fuel.
In 07 they had a recall called like recalibration, HD had a lot of motors burnin holes in the pistons cause they wasn't gettin enough fuel to cool the piston off trying to meet EPA regulations.
The EPA is screwing life up as we know it.
If somebody starts talkin EPA to me trying to sell me something.
I tell them to sell it to the EPA. Those guys should be run out of the country.

The EPA is why the bikes run so hot. Done been down this road with a builder.
Take everything that has the EPA on it off, throw it in the garbage and start over.

You should of put a Thundermax on it and a High Flow air kit and different pipes.
The 110cu got the best in the 09 and 2010 bikes.

The last sentance on the 110 got better in 09 and 2010, is straight from a HD mechanic that graduated from MMI and does Dynoing.
He was stating that the problems they had in 07-08 that they got all the problems out of the bike.

They did all that to the 110 I had and it never helped. Kept on leaking running way to hot. I did all the air cleaner stuff, changed pipes had it dynoed adjusted up down and side ways still same problem, spent way to much money on it. Sold it and like I said got me a good running 96 motor now and its paid for. Got V&H pipes on it, SE air cleaner, stage one and it runs great. Not messing with it for a long time.

Saw a 06 103 SE Fatboy today at the dealer. They want 21,900 for it and its only got 5500 on it.

The SE 103 ran good and I think they ran better than the 110 did.
