I think H-D is trying to "glitz" the bikes up like the Japanese are doing to their cruisers. But the Japanese only seam to make em bigger, heavier, uglier each year.

Even Victory is looking more tasteful in some areas except for that blunderbus Vision.

I don't think HD is glitzing up their bikes. Just changing paint colors is all and they have done that every year. Enhancements yea, but they are all for the better.

Nothing special or exceptional with the 2013 except being 110th anniversary. When deciding whether to purchase a 2012 or 2013 Ultra I was told nothing special coming with the 2013's. The anniversary color isn't so bad, at least its not that shocking/pukey orange/mango deal, lol.

I think 2012 was a great year for HD motorcycles. Why? In 2011 if you wanted the 103 motor I think you had to get a Limited and which I thought in 2011 was the best bike for your bang. In 2012 most big twins came stock with the 103 except the Street Bob, Super Glide and which is weird when every other big twin had the 103. Wonder what the reasoning was for that.

Love the 6 gallon tank. Don't even start thinking about gas until 160 miles and at 180 miles I still have 2 gallons left...that is crazy. And very cool that 2012 Ulta came with a oil cooler.

I think in both 2012 and 2013 the best bang for you buck is the Ultra. Nothing worth the extra money for the Limited I mean it doesn't come with the 110.

Really? HD is no way "Glitzing" up their bikes. I don't see it. The RG's have no front fender trim and either does the street glide. None of the CVO's have a front fender trim either. Fine tuning the bikes maybe. Adding the 6 gallon tank, 6 speed, oil cooler and 103 motor on most of the big twins isdefinately killa tweaking on the MOCO's part. How is that considered "glitzing" up their bikes? If anything, traditionally and predictably all other brands emulate(steal) harleys styling. Always have and always will.

I hardly call a model or 2 with metallic paint option as grounds for considering that MOCO is trying to "glitz" up their bikes. Its a simply paint option for the discerning Harley rider. And its something the MOCO probably picked up from the backyard customizers back in the late 60's early 70's...and its a cool effect if thats what you like.

Thats like saying because the MOCO offered that pukey mango/orange color they are trying to make their bikes offensive to the eyes, lol.

I'm not talking about the CVO Black/Orange. I'm talking about mango colored..not quite orange as much as it looks like newborn diaper droppings.

6 gal. tanks, 6 speed, oil coolers, 103 motors have all been around for at least 6 years now. StreetGlides, RoadGlides, CVO's NEVER had any of that extra fender trim anyway.

What I'm talking about is the garish paint and colors being applied (some make me feel sick), and whitewall tires even on Sportsters! Some of the "bobbed" models look like someone bobbed them with a hacksaw or grinder at home--no clean style at all. And everything seems to have a "slammed" suspension for looks now. Which translates to "no suspension".

I like all the metal flake in the paint. Mine has a bunch, so does Maddogs bike, they look good.:)

However they do have plain black for the purist at heart.

I agree with the mango color being garish(OMG!!) but the metallic schemes were used in the late 60's, early 70's, its kinda retro. And white walls as well have been a traditional look. Thats why I thought you were referring to the other ammenities I mentioned.

I went from a '63 rigid pan to a '81 Sportster to a '83 FL to a '96 buell then a 1998 Ultra and a 2001 Ultra to this 2012 and the 2012 is by far the most outstanding bike of all. At 56 I don't care to tweak or mess with my bike these days, don't have time. Maybe when I retire and life slows down. But for what I'm looking for in a motorcycle this 2012 Ultra is the bees knees. Heck the '98 and the '01 both traveled extensively(Nova Scotia,California,Key West,Outer Banks,Arkansas,Tenessee,Asheville etc...) the were both basically problem free with the exception of the ethanol issue. Maybe you need to suffer with some of that antiquated and troublesome technology of yesteryear to appreciate todays harley's. The old school stuff is cool, hands on and can just about always be fixed on the side of the road and I know the same can't be said for the new technology. But how cool is that EFI up in the mts...no more pulling over to rejet the carb?

Sorry for being long winded. No offense meant. You're observations and opinions are as valid as mine. We'll just agree to disagree but never stop voicing your opinions or prevent me from voicing mine.

I like metalic and metal flake, the 2103 have huge metal flake, like the smaller better, just personal preference. At the dealership today, looked at and sat on number of bikes... my favorite was a 2009 Street Glide, grey metallic with a lot of chrome... for me personally, which does not make it a fact, just what I like, nothing in new line up I like as much....

In 2011 you had to purchase the Limited to get the 103. In 2012 all the big twins got the 103, except 2-3 of the Dyna models

And still the 2012 Limited had the hefty 23,799.00 price tag compared to the 2012 which is 21,499$. Only difference to my understanding is the Limited has
ABS,heated grips, alarm and maybe some other stuff. I thought perhaps they'd put the 110 in the Limited since bumping the 103 to most of the big twins...oh well.

My buddy has a 2007 Dyna StreetBob that came from factory with the 103 motor. Yes it was optional, but available.

My '08 StreetGlide is Black Pearl, which really looks like charcoal metallic. Lots of very small metallic blue, green, purple in it seen only in direct sunlight.
