I have two really nice machines sitting in my garage now, plus a snowmobile, will have another one soon. I think I have nothing to complain about. :p

It sucks, but sometimes it has to be "Happy wife, Happy life." You can't ride em all anyway, and insurance and registration fees now can be used for other projects instead of tied up in an investment you don't really need.

Keeping the peace at the homefront is pretty important, that's for sure. But you still have Whiplash and that is one nice Sporty.

Well, it has just been difficult not to think about this bike so I texted the owner to see if he still has it. He does. I am contemplating an early fall trip to pick it up.

I am going to ask for forgiveness this time rather than for permission. ;)

Since you're buying an antique there will probably be issues. I had to rebuild practically everything on my "rebuilt" shovel motor. Now the shifting forks are starting to go on my tranny as it sometimes will jump into second gear when I kickstart it. It's always something.

I have for surely decided that this is the bike that I am going to pick up. I was watching a lot of YouTube video on the rebuild process of these bikes and that did it for me. The bike is still available too.:)

I can't remember the letters. But I had the 1st year that went to the 1000CC and it was a left side shift. Man was I glad. My buddy had the right hand shift.
And my bike was a Kick start. Think that was a XLCH .
Wished I had some pictures of it. But that wouldn't happen with a rocky marriage and a kid involved . And I was about 20 yrs old .
Man that was a long time ago.

I remember it vibrating my hands to sleep. But it was a bike I rode everywhere.
    Got a deal on it.

It vibrated my hands to sleep.
Sold it and got a 1964 Panhard from a indy shop.
    Man what a great change.
And on the hiway the pan would run off and leave the sporty.
Riders bike shop in B ' ham had build the 64 panhead.

I also had the first year 1000cc Sporty ('72). Rode it everywhere, cross country even, and man, it could beat you to death on the long rides. You really knew you had hold of a seriously badass motorcycle. Though I have to say my shovel is a boneshaker, too ;).
