Its the big temp change from cold to hot inside the house when you guys come home and crank the heat up . It gets humid in the house from the temp change. You know if ya have any desecant bags from a shoe box from a christmas gift throw the desecant bag in the zip lock. With the cams.
That will pull the humiditiy away from the metal .

Not here to baby sit folks. Don't watch babies period.
If they want to eat the stuff, I'm not here to stop them.
    Good luck. :gah:

I struck a nice deal with my indy over here. I am trading my CV 40 for a new starter clutch. Good deal for me I thought. I am going to go ahead and order up the 44mm on Monday. Then when that is done the other head is going to go to him and I am going to get that glass beaded down and ready for paint along with the jugs, might as well freshen those up as well.

We weren't talking about babies eating them....an adult that would let a baby play with one of them, well, they'd have to be as dumb as the first fool that ate one:rolleyes:

We're having weird weather and I'm regretting starting my little project now. It's going into the mid 40's and maybe over 50 degrees this week. I'm still waiting for the breather kits. Thats the only thing keeeping me from hitting the road. My clubs Polar Bear Ride is tomorrow and I'm gonna have to miss it for once.

Got the breather assemblies today, looks like they modified 'em from my stock ones. Larger diameter umbrella valves and stamped steel housing (old one is cast aluminum). Hope to get the bike together either tonite or tomorrow nite so I can ride in this very strangely warm 50 degree weather we are experiencing here.

My head just got back from Wisconsin. I am going to go there and take a look at it now. Now the next step is for me to get them completely glass beaded and then I am going to use the HD high temp paint I think and just highlight the fins from there. Cool, Just another step closer. I think that I am going to drop the jugs off at the same time as well. Might as well.

Will be back shortly with some pictures.....

Man I couldn't take all winter to do a build. I would of went crazy.

I would of got a kit. or bought spare heads and jugs. Had them done with the cam I was gonna have. Having the heads and jugs done wouldn't of taken no time.
Torn the bike down one day. And started to put it together the next day.
I would of been too impatient to have it strowed out over such a long time.

Y'all are killing me. What is it now 3 folks playing with engines and doing builds.

Got my little project done. That quick connect that you guys posted is a little tight in the space between the tank fittigs and frame downtubes and front head cover. I got it in but it will be a bear disconnecting.
The stock breather is on the left.

A I had said, I have received my rear head back at it looks really good. I had thought that I was going to have to strip the paint off and repaint or powdercoat but I think that I am going to leave it be. I will post pictures tomorrow as I am about ready to leave for the night. The place in Wisconsin did an amazing job and if you aren't looking for the blemish, it will be very hard to notice.

Since now that I got the head back, I told my Indy to go ahead and start the head work. I have since changed my mind and I have decided to not go with the titanium retainers and keepers. My next build will be afforded the high expense of titanium. I did tell my indy that I am not in that big of hurry for the heads but did give him a due date. I will have to drop off my compression releases for him so he has all relevant dimensions. I will keep everyone posted on progress. Thanks.....

Hey JB, you doing this work with the engine in the bike? My guess is No. Just wondering. I ordered the Snapon Dog Bones in order to torque the Rocker box and other bolts for the top end while it's in the frame.

Yes, the engine case is still in the frame... The pics in the beginning of the thread is how it sits and how it was torn down..
