I have the Sifton breather kit on it,just a metal tube with a filter hanging off each breather, hidden behind the air cleaner, about a 3"tube...front cyl's filter was pretty wet...I was thinking all the heat and no oil up top didn't do the valve seals any good...Keith has a leak down tester and he wants it right and tight same as I do,he still feels pretty bad about the screw up...

Yeah a leak down will answer my questions and let me know where I stand, don't think I'd be happy with more than 7%...5% was what I hoped for,we'll see in the spring,if I don't like the results maybe I'll send the heads and jugs down for a 98"er,valve job and try those TC2's out, might give em a hook anyway lol...

Sorry for the Hijack JB....let's get that video uploaded:D

Still waiting for head work to be done. I gave my guy a lot of time to do them so it may be a little bit. No worries Lucifer, we get it back on track when it is time. At least you guys are talking about motorcycle related stuff. :D

Chain drive,SE hybrid conversion the -08 version, would that make a difference in leak down results as opposed to gear drive?? What's an acceptable loss??

The reason I asked is I would have sent them to ya if you were running gear drives . And no I does not make a diffrence at all . No more than 10 percent on the ring side is what I like to see cold . And no leak at the valve side . Back the push rods off when doing a leak down by the way . Or make sure your on top dead on each cylinder when doing a leak down !

Thanks for the offer with the cams, thought about putting gear drive in when I changed cams 2 yrs ago,but when I found the original oil pump was scored up by pieces of tensioner shoes, the hybrid kit was the most economical fix(dealer here wanted $400 for just a stock pump:eek:I got the kit for $460 delivered)and I didn't have a gauge at the time to measure run out...

No more than 10% on the rings, got it...I'm using stock rods ,so it'll be TDC and a foot on the brake for me,but I'll remember that tip about backing off the rods, thanks:cool:

Never thought of HTT...was checking out the Kuryakyn website...boy, you could unload a pile of coin there in a hurry...
I never would have imagined a cam with an intake close at 50* could be anything but a top end cam, gotta wear my dunce cap for split cams lol...maybe that'll be my project for the rest of this winter:)

Don't focus so much on intake close when you have good cylinder pressure and cubic inches to work with . Lsa and duration come into play quite a bit . These guys that build a motor on intake closing .and then complain it pings like a bitch all the time . Lol read the notes on his cams .

Mikes road king has an intake close of 59 and made 135. Torque set at 10.5 .1 with the torque coming in just off 2.000 rpm and carried to red line with great street manners he went touring w up with his wife right after the build . I spend quite some time speaking with him last bike week . Very nice guy gave me some great knowledge . In working on these twin cams set ups I was going to run his tc 4 with the head work and 98 set up but kirby cut me an awesome deal on the 585 g so could not pass them up.

Take a look at some linweber cams even the small cams have intake closeing at 52 deg . And if you had a shovel or evo and ran his cams you had a runner! Same thing holds true on twin cams !

Yeah.lol....I'm flirting with that in mine TW21,cast SE 9.4:1 and .030HG...mostly wanted a tractor and see how far I could go without the ping monster being a problem, wasn't too bad,got a little on hot days if I let the revs drop in 2nd or 3rd...pressure should have been in the 180-185lb range, that's why I wanted to do a compression check, just to see what I have...
I still want the low end grunt, but a little wider powerband....set up I have now comes on a little too early for me and runs out too soon...I'd like to move the curve up about 300-500RPM's then go with 3.37 gearing...
Would those SE flat tops(9.4:1) work well with the TC2 and stock heads...
I can't remember what CR rated pistons you used...
