Cylinders are done!!! Now all I need to do is put the damn thing together! WOW, what a process so far! The shop that I took the cylinders to did a really nice job and laid a nice taper at the bottom for ease of ring installation. Now it is time to get the carb switched over and I am as good as gold. :D

I bought an SE 44mm CV non cruise control compatible. Thanks to HarleysLR I can make that into a cc compatible unit. Big carb. I found some really cool air intakes for bike that I think that I might try for it. Similar to the spike air cleaner that I have on my Sportster...

I got my CV carb from HarleysLR and after the rebuild it works great. Cruise control, eh? I have it, too - just hold my wrist steady ha-ha.

Oh, I know you guys love your gizmos - just funnin'. And I have ridden a 1000 miles in a day without it. Lots of 500, 600, 700 mile days, too. On an Ironhead Sporty. No fairing, no windshield. The way I see it - ya can't miss nothin' if ya never had it! :D

    And I don't want it!

:D how old where you then?
When I was in my twenties nothing could stop me and never had all the creature comforts on bikes today. But, now that I'm older I like my comforts.

I started riding at 14 and out ran a state cop by ditching him in the woods where he couldn't follow. At 18 I was riding a motorcycle on the island of Guam and the P.I.
Raced on the roads around San Diego when I was 20 and when back at home we would ride until 3 in the morning then go back home freezing cold and curl up next to the wife. Just did a lot of crazy stuff when I was younger. Heck, I would have got on a bike and try riding to the east coast in 2 days back then.

But I've gotten wiser as I got older and wonder why did I do those things, but have good memories.

Yup, I was in my late twenties, CB. LOL. But I don't need to ride that far anymore. Maybe this summer I'll try a trip to Ohio again, but I don't have to ride it all in one day. A good long day for me now is a couple hundred miles. If my back were in better shape, I have no doubt I could beat myself up and ride maybe 400 or 500 miles on the ol' rigid shovel.

Cool stories about your younger riding days, Marc.

Hey, I wonder if Johnny has begun assembling his sickle yet . . .

How many of you guys prime the lifter before install? If you do, how do you do it. I am thinking that I will soak it in oil and then take a push rod and push the lifter cup in and out for a little bit to prime it.....

I just now finished reading a cam change tech article in American Iron. They soaked the lifters in oil got an hour then installed. I would still look for BP or HRK feedback.

I wouldn't worry about it too much...soak em for a day or so if you want...they pump up pretty quick.. pump oil and assembly lube on moving parts/bearings lifters will pump up in 20 secs....you're gonna roll the engine over a few times anyway.....
