This thread is for everyone. I wanted to show that it is possible to take an engine like this apart and put it back together again without spending high ass shop labor prices. The common thing that I kept running into was to "TAKE MY TIME." I am glad that you enjoyed it Sleepy but this project is far from over. I still have to go through the break in phase and then the tuning phase. I do believe however that the tuning part is close to where it should be, soon we will know. And as always, so will you all here.

I only had only like 5 hiccups with the whole build. They were, 1.) dropping the head and busting the fins. 2.) Had to buy a second carb because I lost my patience with the first one while converting it to Cruise Control. This was close as I ordered it 3 weeks before Paul came up. I called Horny Toad and asked them what was going withit and they told me that it was on Back order.:gah: I was freaking out for a bit. finally Jon at HTHD told me that I would have my carb when it was needed. He was true to his word. 3.) I forgot to get the standard S&S key for the outer gear set. Not that big of deal but another one of my boys came through for me. 4.) Had to get different bolts for the support plates. 5.) Forgetting to clearance the rocker covers. I consider this to be highly a highly successful build. I am convinced that went smooth because I took my time with the planning. JMO

Ok, my build is just over a week old and I have right around 300 miles on already with 250 of the them coming just this past Sat. Here are my thoughts so far about what it is that Baggerpaul and I did.

1.) I am really pleased with the oil pressure that the Baisley LMR Oil Spring is providing. It works as advertised. The only time that I would get satisfactory oil pressure before was at start up when the bike was cold. Once it warmed up then it dropped to about 32 and sometimes even 30 when it was especially hot outside. Now I am getting about 4o-45 psi at all times, even when the bike is warm. Mission has been accomplished there.

2.) The Baisley compression releases. Those are taking a little getting use to but they do work well. Just need to get use to pushing them down every time so I save my starter.

3.) The new clutch spring that was installed is working great, although the clutch does need to be adjusted just a bit. No big deal.

4.) The cruise control works perfectly. Not much more I can say there.

5.) I love the new gravity fed pet ****. I like being in the habbit to turn fuel on and off each time.

6.) As far as the heat goes from the bigger displacement. As of right now I am not noticing anything different than before. I will get back to you on this.

7.) The cams. I FUGGEN LOVE EM!!! I can feel them start to come in at about 2600 and then they get real cray a 3000 rpm which is just a tad under 70 mph. Those cams pull real hard, even when Hot Rider is on the bike with me. They perform right where I was shooting for. I love the more lobey sound that they make as well.

8.) One thing that we did change that I am not sure that I like just yet is that we took the football off and now I just have an open air element. What I don't like about it is that while riding I can hear the carb sucking in the air. It is kind of distracting, but the bike looks a lot meaner this way. JMO

On Sat, Hot Rider and I went for a pretty long ride, as I had said 250 miles. I took the bike on the freeway and was cruising steadily at 80 mph (3500 rpm) with no issues whatsoever. Even at 80 mph if I cracked the throttle, the response was instantaneous. This bike is going to run well, I can just feel it. I have checked the oil and that is clean and the oil level is where it is supposed to be. It won't be that long and BlackDangerous will be on the dyno getting her breath checked. Not sure what else to report at this moment. ;)
