It is just a matter of getting use to it. Will the bike have to be tuned differently because of the open element vs. the football. I agree, I do like seeing that engine though. :D

A tad off subject, what was that stuff that you suggested, Bike Brite?

    Thanks Johnny !

Know I may sound like a hardass. But I try to make people think in my own way.
Glad you got somebody to help you put it together. Watching somebody do it for the 1st time should of been a lifetime experience and helped you a lot farther than you can of ever realized.
And having somebody to do that for you is super great. Know the friendship you made is great too.
This is a lifetime experience you will never forgit dude. Trust me.

Johnny, your bike sounds like a Badd Ass.
Sounds like the build went great. YOu had a few bumps in the road but other than that everything went O.K.
Glad you got it like you want it. Glad to hear it runs good for you.
Riding it for the 1st time should of made your head swell up pretty big. I know it would have made mine if I did it.
Yer baby should feel great between your legs. Enjoy her.
Just pay attention to the power she has now. And realize yer brakes might not be up to par if you really need to stop real fast

    I'm happy for you Johnny.

And do me a favor if you would dude.

Keep that dang snow up there.:gah:

Without the football!!!!! With that sock I bought you it will look kick a**. The only way I'd switch it back is if it caused to much trouble when it rained, but other then that nope.:cool:

Make sure you use k&n cleaner and oil it down good.
If it pours down rain you may stick yer leg over it.

I got the Screaming Eagle sock on mine. Its just a PIA to stop when it rains and put it on when the motor is Hot..

Cool videos, Johnny. I have some idea of the euphoria you must be feeling with your bike up and running. You should have many miles of trouble free riding because you did everything right. Dang, that motorcycle sounds and looks great! Stellar job, my man.

Oh, and speaking of smaller air cleaners. I use a Mooneyes 4" air cleaner on my shovel (not the one in my picture) and it has a paper filter. When I get caught in the rain, I am able to put my leg in front of it, thereby keeping most of the rain out. I change my filter every riding season. $4 for a filter. Cheap. That's pretty low tech, I know, but it does work.

yep your leg over the filter is common practice in the sunshine state cuz it aint so sunny in rainy season got 8 inches yesterday ! in a 4 hour period . talk about flooding . TENDS TO KEEP YA WARM THE HEAT FROM THE MOTOR JUST SO HAPPENS TO WARM YOUR BACK SIDE JUST ENOUGH TO KEEP YA WARM WHEN YOUR SOAKING WET! LMFAO

I doubt the open filter vs the football makes much of a difference
in power, it's just a looks thing. The area of the filter relates to the
total volume of air the filter will allow into the engine, having an open
backing plate allows it to get more air than stock as well.

But yeah it looks good, I had to do that on my Rebel 505 with Woods
super tall filter because it's too big for the football. Had to get an evo style
    cover for it.

If you don't like the football, get HD's Evo style cover, you get protection from
elements plus you can see more of the engine.

This is what I ran to cover the Woods Filter on the 124

OK, I went to find some SS braided line and what I came up with was that I purchased an ice maker line for a refridgarator that was a .25" id. I then by the suggestion of BP wrapped some electrical tape around the hose and used my Dremal to cut it. Well, it worked like shiit!!! Hose keeps fraying no matter what it is that I try. :gah: I was able to get a section on the bike and looked good, however, when I went to pull it off, the SS braid pulled back and exposed the hose. :gah::gah: I am not going to deal with that every time that I need to do something with the carb. My solution ended up being putting the football back on. I didn't really like how the Dark Custom cover left a gap between the where it mounted and the air cleaner. Hot Rider didn't like that I put it back on, but Oh Well. I am going to explore some different options, Stay tuned....

Ya gotta wrap the hose real tight with tape . You have an air compressor see if someone will let you use a die grinder clamp the hose down flat with one of the wooden blocks your dad droped off .that are in the buckets out back . You have to make sure you cut in one clean sweep for braid not to frey and the hose must not bounce around when cutting . Sorry bud that its giving ya a hard time

This isn't worth the hassle for me right now. I don't 100% like the look of the open air element, at least not with the Kurayackan set up that I have. I will come back to this... I want to look into a different set up so for now I am leaving the football on.
