He's trying to lean how to build a Harley Engine.
Then he can quit his job and work 6 days a week to become a Harley mechanic.
Don't pry into his time and ask him to learn how to use a digital camera and post it too.:wtf:

Today I spoke to my indy and I think that I have found a place that will be able to fix (weld) the fins that broke on my head. I haven't had a chance to speak to them just yet but this seems to be their specialty. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to give them a shout and find out what it is that they can do for me.:D

I just got off the phone with the place that was suggested to me to get the head fixed. One problem, but one that is easily fixed is that he has no way to powdercoat the head. Not a big deal, there is a powdercoater not too far from me so I could bring the head there and get it touched up there. He said that he is a month out, he did say that he may be able to fit the job in on some downtime. I guess this what I need to do, I can't put that head on my bike knowing that it isn't perfect. On another note, I went to the dealer last night to pick up my 44mm intake manifold. Right when he set it down I told him that there is a problem. They ordered me the wrong one!!!!:gah::witsend: They ordered me the one for the EVO not the TC, it didn't have the boss for the MAP Sensor.....:banghead: Have to wait a week for that now.

Just an inconveniences, it will not hold up reinstallation. You'll probably think of something else you need from the dealer by time to pick it up.

Good you can get the fins fixed....Geeze,a Harley dealer/parts guy ordering the wrong parts...:roflmao:seems to be a pretty routine thing....I've given the dealer here a list with the part numbers....7 outta 10 times the wrong stuff comes...It'll be a little while before you need the manifold anyway JB,it gets real frustrating when it's a part you need right away and the wrong one comes.

Have you heard back from Kirby, he might have access to someone that
can fix the fin and coat it black.

Where is the fin broken, if it's back by the rear head exhaust, you'll
have a hard time seeing it, if it's inside by the intake, same thing.

If it's close to where the cv44 mounts it might be a blessing as
some material may have to be removed from the head fins or cyl fins
for larger carbs to fit, I know for my Mickey Rooney Carb I had to cut
    the fins...

I also cut the fins on the Cyl for my 124, it was dang near
impossible to get a 2-1 on the bike taking a little fin off under the exhaust ports made getting the pipes on easy..

So other than having a personal issue with a fin missing, think of it as character... still no pictures?

The more frustrating thing about this is that this is the third straight time that this has happened with this particular dealer. It is also the dealer that I consider to be my home dealership and is the sponsering dealership of the HOG Chapter to which I belong too. I stopped buying parts from them about six months ago but figured I would give them another shot. Well, after this transaction has been satisfied, I am done permantly buying parts from them.

On a different note, I went to my indy shop today and I brought him the fugged up head and he is going to ship it off so it can be fixed. the place is going to take about a month but my Indy highly recommends this place so I am going to take his advice and go there. I will give a review of the work performed once it comes back. Also, I was going to go and get the cams pressed out earlier this week but wasn't able to, but was able to get them there today. I was able to negotiate a great deal too between my Inday and myself. He gets my 40 mm Carb and I get new S&S cam plate bearings and clips. Works out pretty good...... :D

Well, at least you didn't break or scratch anything else. A couple fins on my shovel cylinder had to be welded back on and it was a pretty good job except for the grinding. I went back in with a Dremel and smoothed them out better and repainted with black engine paint.

I hope your head comes back like new. :D
