They might.. I am so tired of dealing with these guys..:banghead:

On a more positive note, I was going back through this thread and I found something that I wanted to share about this particular picture. If you look to the left of the picture, you will see a round metal ring. You can't see it very well but it is bent. (Spring Steel). this is meant to be this way. I am not 100% sure what it is there for but I am going to venture to say that it is to apply pressure on the gearotors inside the pump. maybe Bagger Paul can help with this one. So when you take your oil pump apart and you come across this piece of metal that is bent, DON'T PANIC!!! it is supposed to be like that. :)

I wanted to add that I have done a little more research about the particular part in question. The part is generally referred to as a "WAVE WASHER" but when I look at my Parts Manual it called a SPRING SEPARATOR"P# 40323-00 for my bike. this is going to cost me about a whole $1.50 to replace. I have been hearing that there is a specification for how this thing is to fit inside the pump housing and if it does not meet the specification, then a new pump will be in order. At this point, I am not really concerned, but who knows, once it get there. :rolleyes

I checked the factory replacement and it was something like $300. No, I am not going to go with the upgraded plate and pump.. :D

A wave, or spring washer goes inside the kicker pedal on my bike, but it doesn't hold the pedal in place once the bike gets moving. I had to use a little "hillbilly" ingenuity and install a coil spring and it works great. I just unhook one end when I'm kicking and once it starts, simply hook it back up.

Johnny, you don't mean that you have to buy a whole new oil pump just because the spring failed, do you?

    Don't check the O ring

You replace all of them. Including gaskets
and put oil in the pump with a Pump oil can when reassembling the oil pump and cam plate. Use Good 20-50 oil like Mobile 1 Vtwin oil.

Not exactly. What is being discussed is that when the gearator is installed in the housing the face of the gearator should be .080"-.090" "proud" of the housing face. I am assuming in this case that when the word "proud" is being used, they mean "recessed." I haven't inquired further just yet. It is being suggested also that if the above spec is not met, then a new "housing" will be in order. I may be able to salvage the internals but not for sure.

Here is something that I thought was really cool. This short video is a great illustration of how our Piston Cooling Jets work. Just another thing to show one that may be interested in tearing down their own bike and upgrading it or even just general repair. Check it out, very neat....:D:cool:

JB, just pay attention when you put it back together to get
the pump centered on the pinion shaft, other wise you'll get high speed
oil blow back and it will come out the air filter all over the bike...
