"Proud" would mean .080-.090" above the housing face...your wavy washer would do that...
JB if the washer and O ring can fit in your budget:p that's the most you'd need for your pump....Just do like HRK said and take your time and make sure it's centered and alls good:D

I ordered a set of these years ago. And I use them everytime I pull the stuff out of the cam plate.

    Alignment Pins
When they are in the cam plate. I got the rear wheel off the floor and the bike in high gear. I use my hands and turn the rear wheel for everything to align up.

My buddy taught me this years ago.

    Thanks REd.

    Alignment Pins

Got a call from the Harley Dealer and my intake manifold is in. I called and asked if they would have 40323-00 on hand and of course not. :gah::roflmao: Oh well. the intake would have arrived right on time actually if I wouldn't have busted a couple of fins off one head as I am going to have the intake port matched to the head. Can't do that without the intake.:banghead:

you can do it with the pins,
best way is to not bolt the pump down, tighten down the plate
and then put engine in 5th and rotate a few times this will center the pump
and then tighten down the 4 pump bolts...

+1 thats the best way i do it . lets the pump find the crank center line on the plate and ride were it wants on the plate.

I kind of paid attention to how it came apart. I have a parts manual that give exploded views of how things are to go together. I have the pump in a plastic bag with fresh oil in it to keep things lubed up. :D

I am about to leave for the Harley dealer and I would like to pick up gaskets and o rings that need replacing or should be replaced. thing is, there are a lot of small gaskets that are going into the top end. For example, the breather valve gaskets, should those be replaced or should I leave that alone? How about the actual breather element that goes into the breather valve assembly? There is an o ring that goes in the bottom rocker box, should that be replaced or not? There are a lot of these things and I do not want to miss anything crucial but yet if it isn't really a MUST, I would rather put money in a different spot. Thanks.:banghead::gah::D

Replace the breather valve and the gasket and all orings

The breather valve and all is cheap. You do not want to go back in the motor

I went with the upgraded stamped steel breather assembly,I believe BP did too....around $13. each, you'd need 2...also what I did was when I got the big bore kit from Kirby was order the Cometic Top End gasket kit with the .030" head gasket from him.....doesn't hurt to have a couple of extra gaskets hanging around JMHO and I knew I wouldn't forget any... might be the easiest way to go.... part number in pic on box....you'd need 2 boxes

Ok, so you do get the actual umbrella valve in that kit. Before I read this post I did call my boy down at Faribault HD and he did get me that part number.. Now, I am going to have to get the Adjustable push rods as I was very surprised that I didn't have them already installed. When I get that kit, (Push rod Kit) I will get the o rings that go into the lower rocker box right? So there is no need for me to get that in a master kit? Reference PN 17045-99

Been a long time since I bought adjustable pushrods...but as far as I remember there was only 4 rods...if the base circle on the RS cams you're going with is the same as stock(also the Andrews cam) you don't need adjustables, but if you want them ,it'll make a cam change next time easier...
By the time you price out all the individual gaskets you're going to need(and remember;)),price difference in a top end kit is not much more and it will have O rings for PR tubes along with all other gaskets in the top end...I don't trust my memory anymore so I get complete gasket kits:)

RS suggest the ADPR's so that is what I am going to do. I am positive that the the SE Pushrods comes with different tubes and and o rings and gaskets for the tappet blocks and tube orings for the blocks and the heads.

I would in most cases get the kit as well, but if I did that now, I would be doubling up on some and I just don't want to store o rings and gaskets. that kit doesn't come with a complete gasket set either. I think that I am going to go broke....:roflmao::rolleyes:

You can go to the dealer and just git the SE quick install push rods.
They got the numbers on the computer.

the SE tapered rods are the way to go, narrow up top so you
    don't get that ticking noise.

They come with O-rings but I don't think they come
with tappet block gaskets, that should be in your complete gasket kit
    from HD.

    Screamin’ Eagle® Premium Tapered
    Quick-Install adjustable Pushrods 18404-08

If that's the kit...Yep comes with O-rings but no lifter block gaskets...

Dammit, I misspoke again. No, there was no gaskets for the tappets included..:banghead::roflmao:

I got my rocker box gaskets and the upgraded breather kit here and FINALLY I have the right intake manifold in. Pretty soon I am going to start to transfer the breather assemblies from the old set over to the Jims Support plates that I had purchased from DJL and then instal the new Support shafts as well. I think that it is best that this is done while I have all of this downtime. Some progress is happening. :D

I think I remember someone saying that once I get my 44mm intake that I should get new flanges?? Is that right or can I use the stock flanges??
