to answer your question, seasoned barrels are the first choice for working. this is because they have been through the heat/cooling/torque cycles....the stress has already been applied. this has been done for years by racers everywhere. hope this helps some.....and i didnt tell you what i did to my bike!!!:)

Yea, so what you do to it

I was thinking of sending my jugs in instead of swapping them out for a set already done.

Good thought but think and figure on this one.
Find out how much it cost to send yer jugs in.
    Shippin is high.

R&R Cycles, Inc., The BEST in high performance for your American V-Twin (603) 645-1488

Call and talk to Art in parts, see what they will sell you a set of seasoned jugs for yer bike.
Then ask about buying a pair of heads and having them PP.
And figure if yer gonna stay with the crank you already have. Cause the heads are done to match yer cam lift and all.

Not figure how much time yer gonna spend with yer bike torn down waitin on sending parts to them and waiting for them to do their majic on the parts and waitinig ont the parts to come back, and then to put everything back together.
Yer talkin about months man. ARe you really gonna want to wait this long ?
    No way could I wait.

This is why I was say'n. figure out a total build, and call and ask how much used parts would cost and having everything done to the used parts.

While all this is going on you can be riding yer bike.
When the new parts come in git somebody to help you tear yer bike down and put it back together.

    Thanks
Yes bill at Bishops and Amy will work with your parts
and it's not to expensive to ship off the barrels on your
    bike.

JMO I'd keep what came with my engine as I know what it's
been through and taken care of.

Bill can bore and hone the cyl, set the pistons and rings and gap properly
leave new pistons in cyl and ship back all you have to do it tap them down
    and install.

Best thing to start with would be a Cam.
And what you need to do is check pinion shaft runout while yer sittin in the house.
I would still go with the new style chain drive too.
That way you'd have a new style high volume oil pump.

Cowboy right up the road from you is Iron Horse motorcycles in Pasadena.

    Iron Horse - Bing Local

Wolfgang Grasser is in service there.
He has some of the best head work around. Produced better numbers too.
Hes been winnin Ama shootouts for like 5 yrs in a row. He has a Flow Bench where he does heads and he does cylinders too.
    Bob Woods highly reccomends him.

    Daytona

Might be worth yer time to call and see what days he is there and go up and talk to him.
Give you a reason to git out in the dodge truck and go lala Gag around dude.

With taxes looming over my head right now I may just go with 95 upgrade first then when more funds become available do the cams.

They just passed a measure here in Oregon that puts all businesses on the hot seat. You as a business have to pay corporate taxes on the total income before any deductions and there making it retroactive to last Jan. 09. This was another Democrat sponsored bill. They also raised the corporate tax amount. It's like they are trying to spank the business sector for being a business in Oregon. Sense it became effective last week there have been several lay offs and talk of several companies locating to another state. They did all this with the ploy that it's for the kids, bull is what it is, is merely a sales tax on businesses. Businesses like myself are already raising their prices to compensate for it, so who is really paying for it.

So may have to do it in stages with the retroactive tax I have to pay now. :banghead:

How in the heck could this ever work? :banghead: After expenses, you may not have enough to even pay taxes.:gah: It's time to move to another state. IMO I know why they want to take our guns.

My wife won't move otherwise I would leave. Problem is some of the other states around us are looking at this as an added way to make extra revenue, Calif may be next.

They probably figure that most small businesses are
running the expenses up as much as possible to
    not pay any taxes...

No they want the businesses in Oregon to pay for the schools so that the Joe blow citizen does not need to. If they would get rid of the stupid high state income tax here and go to a sales tax they would make more money. Problem is they want it all. I already started increasing my fees for inspections so guess what who is really paying for this, yep the consumer. Really stupid Democrats here. :banghead::witsend:

I've said it before, corporations/businesses don't pay taxes, they collect them. Raise their taxes and they pass it to the consumer which is only right. How else could they make a profit. Good luck.
