    The b model is for the softail frames & the A model is for the swing arm frame , they run a hdy cam chain set up thats about all I know :D

    It will sound like a TC harley cause you can't get the lop idel like the older models cause of the oil pressure need to idel about 1000 rpm to be safe

    The letter B in 96b means its a balanced engine.

    +1 what FLHTbiker said. Also the balancers make an odd "swooshing" sound compared to the non-balanced A motors but it's normal. I highly recommend picking up a service manual which helps you get familiar with the bike. Above all get out and enjoy your new ride.

    I rode my friends '96 Softie with just a Stage 1 upgrade. Thought it ran fine. Not what my 95 has, but I've got cams and heads. Her hubby thought it needed to be a 103, so now she has way more power than she'll ever use, but he's happy. Go figure. He's kinda like Cardboard on the big engine thing......:witsend: :banghead:.:roflmao:
