Come on now CB, we all know that ethanol is great for the environment and the economy. We all got to be more conscious of the environment, we need to be more supportive and considerate of Obamas decisions and support him in his endeavor. :D

WRONG! Piston engine planes, there are millions of 'em, don't run on highly refined kero (Jet-A fuel). They run on high octane GASOLINE (AvGas) . Father-in-law has a twin engine and when he had to work on the tanks he drained his gasoline out and we both ran it in our bikes. Engine seemed a little "crisper" on start and throttle response but that could have been my imagination too. But it wasn't jet fuel man.

Listen, aviation (piston engine airplanes) planes run on a higher octane gas which is completely different than jet fuel or diesel. It has a much higher octane rating than automobile gas does. It's all about their flashpoint.

    Read this: Aviation Fuel

    I'd get behind that....

Av Gas - Higher octane, no ethanol.

Now you gotta ask, if Ethanol is ok, why isn't it in AvGas.. Hmm?
FAA won't approve? but it's ok on the ground I guess yer not gonna
drop out of the sky into a house...

Local airport in the area has people stealing AV-GAs from planes
and the pump, they lock down the pump so the thieves go to the
    planes.

100+ octane, no ethanol, hot rodders trick.

if you don't want ethanol use the link below, or you
can put the app on yer iFone or Droid.

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

locations of non ethanol fuel in your area...

Great post. All Ethanol pumps are supposed to be labeled according to California Law but I was at our local station and one of the grease monkey's there said all fuel in California has Ethanol in it anyway. I proceeded to inform him about California Law at which he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Clueless n00bs or just complacent dorks. Not sure which is worse. :banghead:

One always hears that E85 is bad on gasoline engines. Mainly the fuel system as people claim that it is highly corrosive. OK, but I had heard that with today's technology and how the rubber seals are made that this isn't so true anymore. I work in the rubber industry and I can vouch that not all runner o-rings are natural rubber, actually, very little of them are. Synthetic. E85 is basically alcohol and one has to jet or calibrate the fuel system accordingly. E85 also has a high octane rating. I believe that it is also about 105 octane.

So far so good here in Atlantic Canada.... New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, PEI all stations dispense ethanol-free premium...which is all I run in my bikes anyway:cool: For the extra $3.00 per tank,I might start running it in my winter beaters too;)

I just wanted to point out that lead has no ill effect on engines. They stopped adding lead because of environmental bullshiit. Lead was also added to help cool the rings off, so it acts like a coolant. Muscle cars have extreme have (have) really high compression, more heat.
