Well, I have decided to install my baffles. This was a painful decision to make but I would really like better low end power. I just wish that I could get rid of these carb issues so I can be out riding everyday. I guess this is a part of owning a bike. :D

I sure hope so because this stuff is getting frustrating. :witsend:

I just ordered a bunch of stuff so I had some things on hand just in case. I bought 3 petcock filters, a new in line filter (one that you can replace the element, 3 replacement elements purchased). I would like an opportunity to ride with Steve since he is not that far away from me. It is hard to get miles on when you have to drain gas every other tank full.

That seems like you need to get your tank flushed and coated....carb doesn't pick up crud on it's own, replacing filters and petcocks are just a temporary band aid fix, I'd look at the gas tank as the source of your fuel problem, like the factory liner peeling off and plugging things up or rust if the tank wasn't lined.

well I did a baffle install on mine thinking I had to have them, I think they sucked, didn't notice any performance difference, just all the new noises I coulden't hear without the baffles. Maybe I just can't hear it myself, but I don't think my pipes are loud at all, always seems like the other guy is louder. Heading back to Spokane Sunday!

When I took a look at the tank filter I was really surprised that it was as clean as it was. BULL****! That thing was dirty, so I am assuming that that filter is doing its job, I am not sure about that peice of crap inline that I have. I have flushed that tank before. I just do not understand where all of the dirt is coming from? Just the bad gas.

As far as that lining stuff that a lot us are talking about, I am not about to put something in my tank that has the ability to chip off and do the same thing that dirt would do. Rust? Brand new tank.

    This is a new tank?

you had a lot of dirt trapped on the petcock filter?

Either you got crud from a bad gas stop
or there are issues inside the tank.

drain it, and get a good inspection inside, get a small
mirror maybe telescoping to look around inside. (parts stores have these cheap)

Could be rust, once you determine the how and why we can figure out the fix.

Thanks, yeah I drained it once and It was good for a long time, then I made this stop at an SA and the next day is when it was flowing out of the carb overflow. when I drained it, there was a dirt in there, and I would have to say that there was plenty in it too. I usually stop at my local Cenex but they are having issues with there pumps so I went to SA instead. Last Time!

I don't recognize either Cenex or SA. I use Sunoco mostly around home. When traveling I try to use a brand name.

SA is Super America, and Cenex is a CO-OP, kind of geared more towards agriculture.

Ok, I was reviewing this thread and there was a question that I did not ask. Shorter baffles equal louder noise and longer baffles equal quieter pipes but more Horsepower? Is this right???

    more restriction more TQ
    more flow more HP

    Generally speaking

tuning aside, I'd opt for TQ over HP,
