When you start putting things in the exhaust
you can go a lot of directions, unintended, it's why
you don't get an absolute answer.

Take a supertrapp, disk based system

the less disks the more restriction, the quieter the exhaust,

Now you would think this means less power, however, it depends on
if you had too many disks in there in the first place, say you have 24 disks
then when being tuned based on the engines characteristics a dyno tune
finds that 14 disks is optimum for max tq and peak HP...

    Less is more...

go on a drag bike open headers, large tube, large displacement, big lift cam, alcohol bike, big pipe....big power.

Generally if you quiet down (restrict) flow the bike will maintain
a better TQ curve up to the point you over restrict.

    Bigger isn't always better...

I would agree with this, but the issue that I am having is that as you and I have been talking about, I want to increase my torque. I am not running SuperTrapps, my baffle is only 2" long (see beginning of thread to view exact product), so in this case longer is better? I have some other issues with these baffles that I am working out and am willing to do it for the torque gain.

Hard to say if "longer is better"

More than length to the baffle,
the way it's cut, it's internal diameter

Only way to know is to put them in and see..

I'd say no. my quiet baffle is only 10 1/2" long the stock baffle is closer to 18" long and the quite baffle is quiet and performs better. Me thinks it is in the baffle design.

I have a 09 Ultra with 103 BB Stage II with SERT, with 4" slip-ons gutted and Big City Thunder head pipe baffles which are no more than a washer welded on a stud. Good sound good performance.:D

ultra200922 we use to make these in our younger years ,But with out the pipe ,& the pipe is the difference , it helps slow the pressure down as well as the washer does together it works better & not to loud but you can here it  Jake your so right , & theres a few riders out there that push the limit with there pipes as well so people on both side of the fence are messing it up

I am sorry. I usually do not go tearing the town up. I just take it easy for the most part in town so I do not get people pissed at me. Now when I am in the country, then I tear it up. I try to respect other people, but well, you know how it is.

Yeah I know, but I just cannot bring myself to go up to them and tell them to shut the hell up. I like that noise too much. I will like it until I get old like Cardboard..:roflmao:

My pipes are loud, V&H Longshots, but not open pipe loud. I take it real easy around town, and try not to upset the neighbors. I don't drive my old Plymouth around with open headers either. A little courtesy goes a long way.

Never knew an engine of any kind that didn't run better with the proper amount of back pressure. On my old drag cars I used to put a long collector on the headers, then put a light coat of paint on them. Where the paint quit burning off is where you'd cut the pipe off. More sophisticated ways now, but even that was worth a few hundredths on the track.
Smaller engines are even more fussy.

For those of you that have ordered Big City Thunder Baffles.....When you order, do you have a choice of what length of baffles that you want???? I am going to be going with the Thunder Monsters and I do not want them to be quite. any input would be helpful. I am going to order them today.....
