658 lift cam no roller rockers. Valve guides are a loose fit from what I've heard..
Would probaly need to need to put bronze valve guilds in it.

Pull the trigger CB someone on this site has to be the first, and you need a new engine. I'm waiting for a expert like you to review the 120R before I decide to get one.;)

Talked to a buddy I have in another state that builds engines.
He was telling me this is a RACE MOTOR. It has no dependability in it.
People racing motors have one thing on their mind. To turn high Rpms and go fast down the track.
With the geometry set up in this bike it will have a short life.
The cam lift is too high, the rocker arms are too short, for anything at or over 575 lift should have roller rockers.
Valve guides would have to be addressed. And with the 4 5/8 stroke on the pistons the motor would beat itself to death, makin it a short life.
But race people don't care , cause they will rebuild it over and over.
And with the rpms I would be turnin that I woudn't be gettin the power out of it.
I'm waitin to see if he comes down and gits a job in Texas.
Know I got somebody that will help me then and knows what to do.

If you don't mind rebuilding this motor more often it would be a great motor.

My same buddy is suppose to come here and look at a job opening somebody has.
Will have to see what they pay, and what they have to offer.
If they make things right for him, he will be 40 miles up the lake.
He's offered to come down and help me.
Said he thinks I'm losing the power from the setup on my heads but will need to tear them down to see.
If so I can pull about 10 more HP out of em.
Who knows I might go to a 107 if all this goes on.

With any engine, you can bore and stroke em, go a little more agressive on the cams, massage the heads, ect., and not hurt life expectancy much, but there's always a point where more power equals more trouble. That and the fact your likely to pound on 'em more when you have the power. The 120R sounds like that kind of engine.

    gotta love it..:)

I tried the noisy motor line on my SO ..[significant other]...didn't work. Had a stroker a while back...wasn't thrilled with the durability of the motor. The lateral thrust on the side of the cylinder walls due to the longer stroke was a bit problematic. Knowing what I know now I'd be look at more bore less stroke and looking for the sweet spot in the motor where I ride it..not on some dyno number. if the ten horse gain is where you use it ..good enough, if it's at 5000 RPM, thanks but no thanks. I'd do the 103 built up but not crazy..but that's just me

Found the info I was lookin for on this engine. Glad I found it so I didn't git it.
He tole me there's a better way to build a 120 motor.

Hope the builder buddy of mine comes down and gits a job up the lake.
He will come and give me help and show me what to do.
Won't cost me no where as much money.
He has built dependable engines and he has built Race engines.
Knows both sides of the coin.
Thought I would share what I found out .

Would want anybody else here to know this so they would better understand it .

Got a 103, you can see my signature.
Its stopped up somewhere not breathing right. Might bump the compression ration up to 10.5 and change to forged pistons too with compression releases.
Won't cost me much with his help to make it run better. Might go to a 555 lift cam.
Has plenty of dependability built in it.

    Re: gotta love it..:)

Gotcha..I can read english ok. What you got is a 103 with issues. I think the bore and stroke configuration is ok..just tweak the rest of it to fit the way you ride.

Its probaly somethin to do with the air flow in the heads.

I might order a S&S 106 kit setup and some different cams.
And have a set of heads worked on or have a new set of heads done.

    Thinkin right now.
    It might be dangerous.....:gah:
