Okay and I saw a video on the diaphragm working properly and mine doesn't seem to. When you lift the slide with your finger and let it go it just slams shut doesn't come down easily and make the sucking noise like the video says a good one should.

Did you replace the bowl screws with Allen head bolts?

If not do so, it makes a difference because you can drop the bowl on the carb
without removing the carb from the intake.

I remove the seat, then, lift the back of the tank, put in a short piece of PVC cut to fit or wood or a cap from a spray can under the tank, it will give you a lot more room.

Loosen the adjusters, loosen and remove the choke handle from the tank mount (probably should do before raising tank.

You can change the main by removing the drain plug only, the pilot requires the bowl, be sure not to mess up the float height...

Okay so now the diaphragm wasn't seated correctly. I removed the carb fixed the diaphragm it is working now. Should I rejet while the carb is off or put it back on and see how it works with the diaphragm fixed before I do anything else?

if the diaphram wasn't damaged I'd take it for a ride.
if the slide couldn't move properly it would restrict airflow

you said it wasn't bogging IE like it was hitting a wall theoretically
    but it wouldn't accelerate.

It might be the slide... give it a go..

diaphragm wasn't damaged I don't think when I fixed it it worked like it should. Doesn't drop down anymore like it did. Drove around the block seems to accelerate strong. Need to get on the highway and see what happens.
