In general nudity only occurs at the private camp grounds, it is not like the days of old when anything went anywhere. lots of cops to write tickets or arrest violators. Bike week is expensive but not any more so than a lot of hotels/motels during the summer months any other place. We just returned from a trip and we paid up to $115.00 per night for a Super 8 motel with NO pool.

I like this idea. And anyone can stay over to the first weekend for a few days if you want to get the whole "sturgis" experience. We could meet up on Wednesday or Thursday before, do some rides, drink some beer and either call it good at that point or stay the weekend or more to watch the inrush of bikers.

I think we're getting the start of a good plan.:)

I could see getting fired up to go the week before .I have been the last 3 years the week before and by saturday every demo ride is set up and running and every booth that is ther is up and running full bore. Just cheaper and less people.

Through some conversations I understand that the idea of Bike-Talk get together has been discussed before but never happened in any formal way. Though it is obvious that there are some members that do get together from time to time, i am curious as to why there seems to be a great interest in finally getting together and meeting each other on a neutral turf so to speak? Unless of course we are bull****ting???

JB, CD used to have a Bike Talk ride several times. I was fortunate to have been able to go on one. We also had a meet up, in AZ at the Laughlin Rally where I meant CD for the first time. He and his wife are pretty good people and he's the reason we are all here on Bike Talk.

Actually there were at least 3 rides that I know of..One was in Kanab Utah..really nice place..missed that one and then there were two in Springerville AZ and there's some great riding there. A bunch of us met in Sturgis about 12 years ago..that one was kind of unofficial..the rest, as far as I know were official rides...so no crap here..it's been done before.

That is awesome. I have had the pleasure of chatting with CD through a couple of posts. I sure like this forum better than the other one that I joined. I don;t even post on it.

I'm up for Sturgis next year but will need to get closer to that date to actually make any plans. I too like the idea of arriving the week before to avoid the crowds.

I also like the idea of a non-rally meet. There's no reason why we can't unofficially plan for other meets throughout the year. More often than not getting enough time off work for a ride like Sturgis just doesn't happen for some (this year is a perfect example).

If anyone wants I can set up a separate area here on Bike Talk just for meets.
