Wow, we jumped from 2010 to now. If the meet is during the summer, the timeline will be right for me - I get off work the 10th of June and don't have to be back to work till August 20th. It would be great to meet everybody! If in Colorado it will be a long haul for me, (1800 miles one way to Denver). 3 days each way on this:

Wasn't last year's plan to meet this year? The Next Year Plan must have been devised by the same guy who made the "Free Beer Tomorrow" signs.

I would be camping out - motels would eat me alive ($$$). Once while in California, about 30 of us rented an entire section of a campground for a weekend. Worked out to $40 each for 3 days. Showers extra. We had a blast. That's one way to do it.

I image that there are lots of options around here, depends on which month JB wants to have it, late June is Tejon Street Bike Fest, July is the Pikes Peak Hill Climb "Race to the Clouds", August is Cripple Creek Veterans Rally, Labor day weekend is Thunder in the Rockies, up by where Abby lives, Labor Day also has The 4 Corners Rally in Durango,
There's lot more if I could remember time and dates.

Those would be fun. It would be worth all the time in the saddle to see some of those places. Then, on the other hand, it would be nice if there weren't a major event during our get together - not as many bikes and a more relaxed atmosphere. Either way, I'm in.
Yesterday I was looking at a U.S. map and Mac the wife wants to know what I'm looking at. I say the distance to Colorado & explained why. Naturally, she thinks I'm nuts - but she didn't object! Good sign.

I told Hot Rider last night that my next "practical" bike is either going to be a my buddies 06 Heritage or a Street Glide... She didn't say anything either which is a good sign...

Hey HarlyesLR, how far is Alex the Dog from you?

Hey JoshBob, I looked at a map as well, It is about a 900 mile trip one way for me one way.... That will be fun!!!

Maybe I need to look into a GPS for the bike huh???

Hey Alex or HarleysLR, which months are the coolest during the summertime in Colorado?

Next question... How long of an adventure should we make it???

Johnny, I live 100 miles west of Colorado Springs, or 125 s.w. of Denver on nice highways with very little or no traffic at all. Our little town is almost in the center of the State and pretty much central mountains. After all, Buena Vista in Spanish means "beautiful view".

If you want to do this event in a lake/cabin and campground area, we are surrounded by many dozens of those. Or do you want to be in an urban area with lots of restauants and bars to choose from?

Monument Lake in Woodland Park would be a fair compromise as it's about 20 miles west of Colorado Springs with a big enough town for many eating/drinking choices. Twin Lakes would be good for a more remote (more fun) area with drop-dead scenery and world-class motorcycle riding (Independence Pass). There are so many places to choose from, it will be a tough choice.

Those were pics of Twin Lakes and Independence Pass. Driest months are August and September; temps (in mountains) are 70 -80's.
