I would run the vent lines the way it's shown in the picture from chuck's link.
You can see my crankcase vent on my blue bike in the pic here. It's behind the tranny between the exhaust pipes. It looks good there.

Yes, it does look good. You saw where I put mine and I think it will work fine hooked up to the tranny plate & it's actually a bit higher than the bottom of the frame. Today I hooked up my brake line tee & switch (see pic) to the front of my tranny side cover. I can't find specs on the torque for those cover nuts so I tightened them to 20 ft. lbs. for now.
I'm going to ask some more people about what I would like to do (switching the vents). The upper vent (to the inner primary) should work just as well as the lower one (crankcase), but I could be wrong. To me, a vent is a vent is a vent and they are both exiting the crankcase and have the same size hoses running from them.

I agree about the vents, either one should be fine. Prolly easier to hook a hose to the top one tho. The proper torque for the tranny side cover is 18ft/lbs. 20 should be ok. I know it b/c I just had my side cover off about 2 months ago when I was installing my belt drive. The clutch push rod popped the thowout bearing off and I had to take the cover off to reinstall it on the rod. Did you forget the pic of your brake tee? Mine is attached to the bottom of the frame just below the back of the tranny.

The tee/switch is just to the left of the filter in the pic attached to a tranny bolt. Pic isn't that sharp so you might have trouble seeing it (see post #322).
Yeah, I'm going to hook up the filter hose to the top vent hole, as I already have the connector. I'm going to plug up the bottom one with a 1/2" pipe thread plug. So, I'm switching holes (sounds kinda kinky, don't it?)

    Switch those holes Big Guy!
It looks like the crankcase breather is in the way of the tee or is the tee back behind the breather?
My brake lines are down lower below the frame. I like your simple set-up. It looks nice and clean.

It's close quarters but the tee does fit behind the breather with about a 1/4" to spare. I'm trying to keep everything no lower than the frame since my bike sits low (4 1/2" off the ground). Don't want any speed bumps or whatever knocking something off!
It looks like my drag pipes are on back order from J&P, won't be here until the middle of June . . .my pipes will be similar to the ones on your blue bike except the rear pipe will come around the front of the tranny and are 34" long.
Found out V-twin's distributer doesn't have the oil tank I ordered (see pic), so I'm going to try the Mid West catalog. Now it's "hurry up & wait" . . . (old army proverb).

You should be able to find a softtail/horseshoe oil tank elsewhere.

Common Tommy, thought you had better taste than that???? Get rid of the horseshoe and get either a pill, keg, or under the transmission oil tank.. Talk about giving the bike more of nostalgic look...

I agree with JB~!. Paughco has a nice keg type tank with the oil filter housing built in. Will prolly fit your Paughco frame perfectly.

Guys, I did consider barrel style oil tanks but did not want to deal with more welding, for one thing. Besides, the tank I'm getting is just fine. It's in the horseshoe style I like and it should bolt right in with no problems, and it conceals the mini battery very well. On round tanks you always see a battery box sticking out behind it. Round tanks, IMO, look better with bikes with magnetos (no battery box). I have a soft tail oil tank but it's too wide for my frame.
Holy twisted choppers, batman! Most of their products reminds me of medieval torture chamber implements. Not my stlye at all.

I think their bikes are awesome. The bike that won the biker build-off was a killer shovelhead bike.Their parts are awesome too. Maybe just too aggresive in design for some older folks. Ha Ha hee hee.

Well, you do have a good point! For Sportster fans (Johnny), Bitter End Choppers makes some "demented, wack job" stuff, too. I like a lot of it, just wouldn't ride a bike in that style - after all, I have to act my age and not pretend I'm a 20 something anymore!
