Mine, too! BTW, Fab Kevin wrote back and said he has run thousands of miles with no torque plate between motor & 4 speed tranny using an open belt drive and never had a tranny go out of alignment. Good info for those of you who may be considering going the open belt drive route. For me, one less thing I have to do!

Yes, and then to the 2 back primary bolt holes in the rear of the crankcase. I guess you could do without the heims but it would be difficult to get proper tension on the belt without them. Good luck.

I'll figure out a way to get the belt tension. I'll try a crow bar with rubber pads on the contact points on the frame & tranny so as not to mar or dent anything. Looks like a two man job but should be fairly simple.

Man, don't I wish I could finish it today! Don't worry, I'll end the thread as soon as the beast is on the road - now long, now. Boring, eh? What else is there to do besides tinker with & brag about our magnificent machines? Yes, I had a few airheads this last school year but I managed to somehow teach them something about shop & art; now their heads are full of sawdust & paint! And maybe they learned a little bit about growing up in this crazy world we live in. We have a small school, only 21 graduates this year. My classes are small by public school standards, so the kids get more individual instruction time. Guys, I wouldn't trade this job for any other job I ever had, and I've had some good ones. My legacy is that I get to leave behind a little bit of myself in each one of these kids I've tried to teach.

That's cool I remember shop class in 9th grade, made a chess board, got to run the plainer sand, glue, cut all kinds of stuff, Think I just got rid of it not long ago,

No kidding? So far, we've had no major accidents in shop, except the time I cut into my knuckle on the band saw! Glad I wasn't giving a demonstration!

That's good. Today, my belt came in the mail, but - no primary, yet. Those guys are slooow. Now I'm considering putting a speedo on the left side of the backbone between the gas tank and the seat. I should be able to fabricate some kind of way to do it once the speedo comes in. The problem is the cable. I don't know where I can get a custom made speedo cable to go into the tranny. Or is it possible to shorten an existing one myself? If so, how? I've been looking around and haven't found any info on this. Still looking, but thought I'd see if any of you know anything about this.

Yes, but I just want to relocate the speedo to mid-frame for a custom look & keep the front end a little cleaner looking. If the speedo wasn't a state requirement I wouldn't even bother using one. Buckhorn handlebars are only 27" across. As you can see from the pics, I'll be running a hand clutch for the time being, instead of the suicide clutch. I've decided that I'd like to have a front drum brake before going with the jocket shift. That's a future project, after I get the beast running . . .

I am with you on this JoshBob, I would prefer the speedo of to the side as well, like you said, a much cleaner look.

Chuck, I looked over the entire thread. I'd forgotten how cool it was! Post #63 had the best pic of the speedo/tach - so many custom things you did to Chrome's bike. I'm sure she's riding the wheels off it!
BTW, Barnett says they will make me a speedo cable. Whatever it costs, it will be worth it!
P.S. I added some comments to post #397. Tryin' to keep things from getting too boring!
