Well, boys, my pipes & oil tank arrived today - thought they'd never get here! The right side of the sickle is starting to look like a bike. I have the pipes & oil tank mocked up. Lots of things yet to do - nothing has ever just bolted in. Today I had to grind off quite a bit from my forward control so the front pipe would clear. Also had to modify the oil tank bracket so the clutch cable would clear. So far, so good. Discovered that my oil filter won't clear the rear pipe - maybe a 2 1/2" one might work- it's gonna be close. I'm exhausted but glad I have something to do now . . .

Question about regulator/rectifiers if anyone knows: Does the body need to be grounded to the frame?

Got the horn mounted under the tranny (out of sight) and it works fine without a relay - and it's loud, too. Horn button is on the backbone between the seat & gas tank. There is hardly an electrical wire visible anywhere. The oil tank is getting a bracket welded on & I made a new oil filter bracket so the filter will clear the rear pipe - that's getting welded as well. Pick up is Monday. Also got the outside of the clutch basket shaved down & painted it today - will do the open belt primary mock up in a day or so . . .

Resubmitting this sketch of the oil line hook ups with the remote oil filter - just want to be sure they are right. Anyone out there know for sure? Thanks.

it needs to pump into the filter.........oil pump aint strong enough to suck the oil through it, also ya dont need any vacuum leaks to the oil pump. a pressure system will show a leak much quicker........

Thanks, Chuck. I thought the pic showed the pump moving the oil to the filter and then up into the oil tank. Also, how am I getting a vacuum leak to the pump? There's something here I'm not getting . . . if the sketch is wrong, what do I need to change?

the chance of a leak can come from the filter....bad o/ring. not saying it will happen, but it could happen. you need as direct/uninterrupted flow to the pump as possible. leaks are easily detected on the pressure side......not so much on vacuum side. ok, i relooked at the diagram. was confused with labeling. the return and out on the filter threw me. needs to come from the tank to the pump....then to the in on the filter, out to the tank......my face is red..............

Here's a diagram for an Evo setup(shovel would be the same)....you could move the filter to wherever you want but hose routing would be the same...

This time I labelled everything, guys! Here's a new drawing of the lines revised. Gravity feed straight from tank to pump. Return from pump to "in" on filter. "Out" on filter to tank. That is right - right? Ha-ha!
I was just reflecting on how much I'm learning. If I would have just bought a "ready made" bike like any sane person, I would have never learned all the stuff I'm learning . . .

Just a few pics of the latest progress: final painting of fender & oil tank and a new tool bag from Lick's. Fender is riveted to the brace. Also note home made wheel chocks - just screw into floor wherever needed!
