Joshbob - since you have a welder close at hand you might consider doing a tank cut about 1" up from the bottom all the way around and then have the welder reweld the tank back together- you would probably lose about a 1/2 qt cap on it but it would fit with more clearance. JATIMOO:)

I thought of that option, Sarge, having seen the idea in the book "how to build a bobber on a budget". But I saved a lot of shekels doing it my way, which sometimes turns out not to be the best way! And another thing - this build has been anything but a "budget" build. I made the huge, huge mistake of building from scratch. If I would have started out with a "donor bike", it would have been much cheaper to build. As it stands, I have over $11,000 in it, and it's still not running. I have kept all my receipts and it amazes me how much I've spent on the piddling things, not to mention costly mistakes.

I bet that does not included labor hours , It's not cheep to build a bike , but worth it in the end , as long as you ride it & enjoy it

Trailer Queens are sure nice to look at but I always thought it was stupid. Why spend that money if you aren't going to enjoy it the way it was meant to be enjoyed?? Kind of like a wife.:roflmao:

Some people like things to keep,
I can see the reasons for putting a $500,000
classic car in a show garage its an investment
at that point and if you got the green why not

Then again I can also see taking a 66 Corvette
that needs total resto, and is missing original stuff
and putting in a new LS7 427 small block with a
supercharge, 750 HP, new suspension and tunes
    making a resto rod....

Buddy is doing two of them I'll have to find the pictures..
