The public schools are in a shambles around here. Lot of teachers out of work. Looks like we're going to get smacked by hurricane Irene sometime Saturday - Hobgood is about 80 miles from the Outer Banks . . .

Yup, and flooding around here. When Floyd came thru in '99, Hobgood looked like a lake with houses sticking up here and there. We are at a higher elevation and the water came within an inch or two of going into our house. People were getting around in boats for a few days . . .

It's so calm outside right now - you wouldn't believe a hurricane is roaring it's way up the coast. Ocracoke Island has been evacuated and a lot of others on the Outer Banks are clearing out and heading inland.

About 80 miles. The weatherman says it might only be a catagory 2 by the time it hits us. That would be 50 MPH winds and 5" of rain. That's not too bad, but the folks on the coast will be hit hardest - that's where the eye is supposed to go.

When I was at my sisters place in N.C. I asked her and her husband if they knew where your town was and nobody had heard of it and couldn't find it on the map. Was thinking if it was on our way I was gonna do a surprise visit and just walk in, would have been fun. Obviously you are a long way from Greensboro N.C.
Hope you guys take care a cat 4 storm is nothing to mess with. Keep us posted how your doing OK.

We had a 5.8 earthquake a couple of days ago. First one since 1945. Unbelievable - and now this. If my bike was running I'd be out there right now while we still got some nice weather - it has been sunny & partly cloudy the past few days - perfect for riding.

Ha-ha! Been there - done that! We're staying put. We put in a few supplies, just in case - like lamp oil and some groceries & bottled water. I put a tarp over The Beast in case rain leaks thru the tin roof of my shop.

Better strap the bike down cause what if the winds blow the building or roof down.

If that happens, it'll probably take the bike with it anyway . . . let the four winds blow!
