It's leaking between the cover and the pump body. Nothing I've tried will stop the leaking. The new pump is made in America and I suppose that's why it's pricy - but it's supposed to bolt right on the ol' shovelhead crankcase with no drilling like some of the other aftermarket pumps.

Hey, just got my Lick's Visormatic and installed it on my helmet. Clears the glasses and looks great! (I think even Tommy would approve).

How does that visor fit into the helmet? Will it raise up?

No, it won't raise up. It has three points where it enters the helmet between the shell & the liner - one at the top and one on either side. It is a tight fit - I don't anticipate it ever coming loose. The visor came flat and you bend it to fit. It looks to be about a 1/16" thick piece of Lexan.

    Ha-ha! Oh well . . .
My glasses are photo grey - should get dark enough under the visor. Thought I'd further lighten up the mood and put up a couple more pics of the newest member of our gang, Buster. I set him on the seat of my bike - I think he likes it - but wouldn't stay long enough for me to get a pic.

Buster is bouncing off the walls now - guess that means he's happy. Today, I put the thermal sleeve over the fuel line. It's good up to 1500 degrees - don't have to worry about melting my fuel line and the sleeve is also supposed to prevent vapor lock.
Next, I installed the EBOC (engine breather/oil collector) on the backside of the bracket I made for the oil filter (see pics). Just need to get a section of 3/8" hose to finish that off. It's made in America especially for the shovelhead motor.
And, last but not least, I made one final attempt to repair the oil pump leak. I figure what the heck - I'm gonna buy a new one anyway - so I took the cover off and sanded (yes, sanded!) it down a little on the belt sander. I got it very flat - I think I may have taken off something like 1/64" or less - just enough to get it flat again. Then I sprayed some copper gasket goop on a new mylar gasket and put the thing on. So far there are no leaks. But I have to wait and see what happens when I crank the motor up and see what it does under pressure. I'm hoping I'm gonna save myself $420 & a months worth of down time . . . .

Never thought of that . . . I used a machinist's 6" straight edge - couldn't detect any light coming thru. Before I sanded it (the oil pump cover), I could see & feel where it was warped using the straight edge. Maybe this'll do the trick. Still waiting on the oil from J&P and the other goodies. I'm using Harley 20/50 in the motor and 85/145 in the tranny, just like the good ol' days. I only plan to ride in warm weather - I'll get my walking in on colder days.

Funny you saw that! Yeah, I made a "battery box" inside the battery box - 3 pieces of wood to sandwich the mini battery in so it wouldn't move around and also isolate it from the oil tank. Everything is strapped down with a small belt I had left over from my tool bag. The 15 amp breaker you see is attached to one of the pieces of wood. There is another piece behind the battery and the thicker one underneath.

Just curious, maybe that was an early shot,

the wire going from the battery to the frame (ground) looks to be
a bit small for giving you a really good ground path, might be part
of the issue with getting good spark when starting.. You might
want to step up to a thicker better battery cable.

What are you running to the other post on the breaker, looks
kinda one sided, again maybe it was early in the build, but I'd
upgrade the ground cable, get one at a Napa store they are under $10
    and come in different lengths.

You don't want to underestimate the value of a good ground...
