I'm out of beer with no way to get to the store. That's okay. Ibu's don't mix well with Al K. Hall. Mac just came back. I got the lap top in my lap in bed watching some more spaghetti westerns. I got a movie pac of 20 for my birthday last week. Just watched "A Fistful Of Dollars". Tomorrow, more of same . . . back is a wreck . . .

Yesterday it was 78 and today it was raining and 46! I think our little stretch of good weather is gone for good.

BTW, I hope your back is continuing to heal. I woke up and no improvement yet on mine. The Ibu's help with pain. If it doesn't worsen I'll be able to go to work tomorrow and function.
This morning it's 32 out. But we will get some warmer temps toward the end of the week - some daytime temps getting into the low 70's. That's good news - should be some bikers out there.

Glad to hear your back getting better. Cold this end of state too, but not that much colder than you. Yesterday cold, rainy, little frozen stuff mixed in early, just plain nasty. Went by HD dealership just for something to do, place pretty empty, but all the young girls there in Halloween costumes, worth going> 29 out this morning, but going to be sunny and in low 50s. Went by another bike shop, and saw 5 gobblers standing in parking lot, was wild. :)

Olbill and I were down at the dealership and yep, girls in Halloween costumes, oh man to be young again, I could be in heaven.:D Watched some of the employees in a pumpkin pie eating contest, what a mess.
They had a dog judging contest to and her is my favorite parts girl.

There's a pretty parts girl at the Harley shop in Rocky Mount but she doesn't know very much yet. Pretty girls are always an asset to any business.
Last time I went there the ugly parts guy was there and sold me the wrong fittings for my brakes. He pretended to know everything.

Speaking of parts, I think I'm gonna get my CV carb together and try it out. Would Ken rebuild it for me with a stage 1 upgrade if I sent it to him? I'm already looking for a SMALL, ROUND air cleaner for it. Yup, I finally have to admit defeat on the butterfly. Replacing the bushings on it are beyond my abilities, and besides, there probably aren't any bushing sets available for it anyway.

This pretty gal at our dealership is one smart lady, she also graduated from the Harley mech school in AZ. :D Bet she could even straighten out JB's problems pretty quick. :D

Brains, beauty & a wrenching wench (I say this with admiration) - a rare combination!
I am now switching into CV mode and trying to find out all I can about this carburetor. I'm finding a lot of info out there. If you're reading this HarleysLR, I still haven't found your forward to me concerning the butterfly carb. It seems Mac the Wife somehow caused this email glitch to all our PC's here at the house. I've been trying for days to get her to fix it, but I can't get her out of QVC mode!

You will love the CV it's the best street carb JMO

a rubber flange on the intake should let you connect it
I'll have to look in my stuff that don't fit nothing I got no more
piles upstairs to see if I have anything you can use.

Anyone got a list of the things he'd
need to hook that cv to the shovel?

I'll need an adapter, but I don't know what size CV I have -how do you measure it? And an air cleaner & an enricher - the whole thing is missing - just a hole in the side of the carb. I don't have a way to hook up the enricher cable, but for now it can just dangle. Eventually, I will try to find one of those "shorty" style enrichers. Guess I can pirate the inlet elbow back off the butterfly and put it back on the CV. I PM'd Ken for assistance.

Woke up and was raising my leg to put on my jeans and a sharp pain shot up from my knee cap to my groin. Same side as the back problem - not good, eh?

Been over working the leg muscles? Got any pain down the side of the leg that stays? Any pain down in the ankles? Any numbing in the leg?
    Sure hope you get better.

If you don't have the heads with the breather holes to mount up the
backing plate the solid adapter might be better.

Choke cable and connectors not much more than $10 to $15 for a stock
new one so you could get that locally, the fuel inlet can be replaced with a brass
one which won't be bothered by any heat.

The brass one will be pressed into the body, can you get some pictures of the CV
it's numbers, front, back side bottom.

I'm going to guess you have a CV 40 which is the stock CV and more than enough
    for the bike you have...

Here's a few pics of the carb. It looks chewed up around the area where the enricher goes.

About my back. Still hurts, but Ibu's help. There's some constant pain and some very slight numbness on my upper leg in places but nothing any lower than my knee. This is my left leg - not my kicker leg. Soreness in the area where the hip bone is in front. Haven't taken any Ibu's since 6 last night. No doctor visit yet. Don't have one. No insurance. One phone, no pools, 4 pets!

Thanks, HarleysLR. Lucifer, I tried ordering it (the metal flange adaptor) yesterday, but it seems they only take Canadian orders - no way to type in my USA shipping address. I did just order a stage 1 upgrade from CV Performance - they recommend it when the carb is used.
