Here's what my CV carb & new air cleaner look like mocked up. All the lines and throttle cable hook up nicely- no mods needed. Still waiting for the CVP stage 1 upgrade - it's been 3 weeks since I sent the order in.
Just for looks, I'm going to get a chrome top cover ($15) for the carb and get rid of the plastic one. Hate plastic!
I don't think I'm gonna need braces for the carb. It is really solid.

HD's vibrate, typically you make a metal brace and run from the center engine bolt up to the bottom of the carb as a brace, the two you designed look better.

Run it without the cvp kit, it might just run perfectly.

    Looks great!

Probably solid enough to fire it up for a test to see how it runs without the support brackets, but you'll still want to use them...

I tried making the pieces for the braces I designed, but transition from drawingboard to reality is very difficult. I have to make 6 finished pieces. I made several rods already (some came out too short) and found the angles impossible to get right. Then there's no way to clamp them together for mock up, or later, for the welder.
So, I made a bracket out of 1/2" steel strap and will run it from the bottom of the air cleaner to the center engine bolt. Even then, I had to make 2 of those - the first one came up short. Here's a pic - not terribly exciting, but one more little piece closer to completion.

I agree with other comments JoshBob, looks really good. I find all your work pretty impressive, don't think I could do all that work. When you are riding, you will have much to be proud of, your work, your bike!

Thanks MC. We woke up to rain this morning. Going to ride with my wife to her job and bring the car back so I can run errands. S.S. check coming today so I got money for Harley and food. Notice my first priority!

Got a vacuum piston and enricher cable this afternoon from Harley. While there I had to special order several of the internal parts for the enricher circuit. Another week of waiting. I put the top of the carb together using the iffy spring I have - it has been cut and I have no idea how many coils were chopped off.

I posted my Thanksgiving comments on the "holy crap!!!!!!!" thread, but would just like to say again I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.
I'm wondering if I'm being unreasonable in thinking I should have recieved my CVP stage 1 kit by now. I sent the order in on the 1st of November and in a few more days it will have been a month. No one is responding to my enquiries on the status of my order.
Also, it has been over a month since ordering a high flow CVP elbow from another source. I'm not trying to be a pr*ck or anything, but I am anxious to get my carb together. Does anyone know how long one should expect these orders to be shipped?
Ironically, CVP shipped the 4 allen screws for the cover & the blemished choke cable holder last week and I ordered those items only a few weeks ago. So, the older order is taking much longer for some reason.

I just sent my 2nd PM to Ken this morning concerning the order status. I hope to hear from him soon. Maybe he's been sick or on vacation or just loaded down with so much work he hasn't had time to reply yet. Not much to do now but wait. I'm expecting the enricher parts from Harley to arrive in a few days and also a couple of crankshaft seals from J&P and a few other odds & ends.
I think we're coming to the tail end of our warm weather. But this weekend it'll be in the high 60s and by the end of next week mid 50s. So it is gradually cooling down. Still good riding weather, though. I see bikers all the time. Baggers, bobbers, crotch rockets, all kinds taking advantage of our "Indian Fall" so to speak.

I'm surprised at how close your weather is to mine. We expect high 60's also for this weekend which is amazing for this time of year. Your so much farther south I would have thought you'd be in the mid 70's or higher. Sis in law lives in Cornelious, NC and she is having similar weather too. I was looking to ride but wife had minor foot surgery yesterday so I'm nursing this weekend.

I'm sure you'll take good care of her. The weather we're having now is pretty normal this time of year. Goes up and down. Most bikers around here ride in the winter on the warmer days.
