They call them love bugs not because people love them, but because they are attached at the back aka bugs in love, when they come out it can be pretty nasty, it's not always as bad as the truck but it can be, hit a swarm and it's cover the mouth and nose if you are shield free, the acid in the bodies is nasty, not long ago leaving them in the sun on your paint was cause for removal of the clear coat, they are pretty nasty but a couple of dryer sheets and some water and they are gone...

Don't ever use Windex on your plexiglass windshield. It contains ammonia, and will fog or yellow the surface. Also, NEVER EVER use the squeegee or windshield cleaner at a gas station--it's got ammonia AND everyone else's dirt and grit in it.

Seen guys on Goldwings using those window cleaner tool that you find in a gas station bucket of soapy water. God those things have gravel stuck in them.

By the way Pledge will also turn the wind screens yellow overtime as well. Knew another Goldwing rider who used it and then complained, why is my windshield turning yellow, we all tried to tell him but some people you just need can't help.

I use the ammonia free windex. Still, I know it's not the best thing to use. Plain water and micro fiber rags work well also.

I have a few bike cleaners around the shop but never use them - seems more labor intensive than water or windex.

Each week I rub some wax (any brand) on my windshield at home, and I carry a small squirt bottle of Meguire's Quick Detail and a micro-fiber rag in saddlebag when riding. The wax keeps bugs from sticking badly, and the Meguires dissolves what's left very easily.

I carry a product called ShowTime for the entire bike. The stuff is the best I have ever used. Car guys are using it to put a shine on there hot rods at shows here. Works very well taking bugs off the Shield.
