The thought occurred to me several times to do something worse than work him over with doorknobs ha-ha! But it would have taken 6 or 7 hours to get there - and then I might not be able to find the place or get lost!

    Sent the heads out Monday.

Well, we put another cam seal in while I'm waiting for the rest of my motor to come back from the shop. Tattoo said that the previous seal was cocked a bit when I put it in. If this doesn't work, then I'll go with another cam. He mic'd all the surfaces (cam & bushing) and they were all within normal tolerances.

BTW, Tattoo's motor doesn't leak ANYwhere, and his is a '67 slabside.

This is what happens when people use a regular ol bastard file to file rings and is exactly why I went and bought the right tool for the job. Sounds like things are looking up for you Josh. Stay positive. :D

I used a Bastard file that was flat. Used a round and peppi file for 40 yrs as a Locksmith.
When I started in 69 we made all our original keys for rekeying locks with a Peppin and a round and flat file.

then used a Hand crank key machine.
All the keys we cut by code for file cabinets and desk locks and the keys we made by impressioning locks we use files.
I could look at a key and nearly hand file it out by hand

Was taught it by the Germans I worked for.
I'm Old now, don't do nothing.
But I still have my files.
They are not made for filling rings oh.
    They are swiss files.

I have a nice set of riffler files which are very fine. I used them for model making a few years back. I've heard that locksmiths use them a lot and so do machinists. I wouldn't be afraid to use them on the rings - but I didn't need to - the rings fit with about 5 to 7 thousands of an inch between the ends.

Yup, I'm staying positive about the motor. I think it's gonna be fine. Just a bit bummed today because it's 75 degrees out and I can't ride. This great weather won't last much longer . . . :( I've seen bikes all over the past couple days.

More locksmiths use Swiss Grobet files than any other file made.
They are the best file a locksmith can git.
I was taught by the germans and used them for over 40 yrs. as a locksmith.
Had my own company for 19 yrs.

The Swiss make fine watches and I bet they have special files for that, too.

The Swiss files were the best files I've ever seen.
A 7" peppin file was like 40.00 before I quit.
Do you know what impressioning is.
When you take a key blank a pair or end cutters
A flat file , pepping file and a round file.

As I've said before I don't care what we talk about on my threads. It's all good to me. I can change the subject back to the original topic any time I feel like it. Right now, I don't feel like it. :p
