Mine aren't as loud as open pipes, they have a small baffle. Says right on the mufflers "Not Legal For Street Use" "For Off Road Use Only".

Had Supertrapp headers on my old GS1100EX. With all the mods I and Vance & Hines made to the engine the Supertrapps were tuneable and made great power. Reasonable noise too. The SE II pipes are loud but not obnoxious (unless of course I was feeling obnoxious!)

My last bike had supertrapp with 26 disc. It was a 103.
the more the disc you have the more power it makes up the power band and the more noise it makes.
It that is not enough noise you suppost to change the flat cap on the end out for one with a hole it it.
You got to know how to use what you got.

The air horns are more higher pitched than I thought they'd be - but they are pretty loud.

Got a friend with them. They are the shorter ones. Hes had em for a while.
Ilike how they sound. Also they came to the Texas Lonestar Rally years ago.
    Seen them there too.
    They look great.

What are you gonna do about the reversion the motor needs.
You got low end, mid range and top end to think about.

There is more to it than just the motor breathing.
Even in the heads. You need them to breath buy you got to take in Port Velocity

And I have all three. Reversion resmursion - velocity shmulocity. 3 1/2" baffles are just right for my application. Better than no baffles & better than 10" baffles, which I have tried out & experimented with. When my heads come back from the shop, and with a new set of rings in the honed jugs, I should get even more performance out of the ol' beast. Simplicity & economy is the key.

Since I'm not carrying all the extra weight (bike weighs 425 lbs. with a tank full of gas!) some of you guys have, it's not as critical to have the motor super tuned or bulging with HP. I got plenty . . .:D

But when you got all the extra HP and TQ it makes everything better. When you take off it pulls harder. When you are running it runs smoother.
when you git on a interstate it runs faster smoother. When you need to pass it will pull harder and faster and pass a heck of a lot easier.

Fight it as long as you can.
Know newer bikes are expensive. But you don't have to work on them as much. And things don't come loose as much. And they last longer.
The money you spend on the older bikes you can pay for a new one.
Know somebody that went to a Harley Dealer and found a 07 softail with 2800 miles on it for 6000. He is like me, he don't like softails but for the price he couldn't pass it by. He likes the bike. He didn't have the money but he broke down and got it.
1st thing he said is Man what a difference in riding a new bike. I should of done this a long time ago. This is living life to its fullest
I started riding a shovelhead , then went to a panhead and rode it for about ever. Then got in the twin cam world.
Nothing, nothing, runs or rides like the new 103 that I have now.
Old Chucktx had a Panhead that he rode for ever. Rebuilt the engine and everything. He sold it about a year ago. He rides his Twin Cam. And he's been riding longer than me.
The Twin Cam is the best engine and the easiest motor they have every build.

I kinda disagree with that part CB....IMO it's the Evo that was the best engine they ever built and the easiest to work on...but opinions are like azzholes, everybody has one;)

Simplicity left when they went Twin Cam and filled them with sensors...there are still some guys that enjoy wrenching almost as much as riding....
