johnnyb I would just change the disk/plates like HRK said unless the basket has something wrong with it , ie bent that's all you'll need is the disks

I think that is what I am going to do. I talked to Bishops today and they said the same thing. I am not sure if I want to put a new or heavy duty spring in it though, I am holding hope that Hot Rider will start to get on the Sporty this coming riding season. (I think I better not hold my breath though :banghead:):D

I know. She already said I can get a different one. Cowboy and I have been talking on the phone a lot lately, we have an eye on an FLH down there in the big Texas for me. Just waiting for the doe. I should be able to get it soon if that is where I decide to go for a bike. :D

Will do. I still have my eye on a CrossBones that is at an HD dealer near me. I took that out for a spin during my season, I really liked it a lot, but I thought it was just a tad too much. A buddy was at that dealership the other day and he said that they still have it. I thought that was funny because I remember them pressuring me buy now because that bike was not going to be there in a week. That was six months ago.

Well maybe now they would be more willing to talk or just look elsewhere. Friend of mine just traded in his really cool crossbones on a streetglide. That was a really nice bike to. All blacked out including the bars that were also 14 or 16 inches.

I really like the looks of that bike. This one has a king/queen on it. I would repaint it though and have a bunch of custom parts made for it because this bike just screams "CUSTOMIZE ME!" I thought that the engine was powerful enough so I would most likely leave that alone for a long time. I was looking at painting blood lines in the bike with a flat red, no gloss at all on that bike.

The only thing I don't like on the Crossbones is the rear bobtail fender, just me.

Me either, that would be the first thing to go bye bye. I would put a hinged rear fender on it as well. (Now that is a style that should come back)! I am not sure if I would leave the king/queen on it or not though.

My friend Vern had a spring seat on it that was very nice, kind of like the old style seats.

I wished HD would bring back the old Heritage Springer, like mine.

I like the heritage Springer too. I just like Springers, I think they are cool. I think that the spring seat that HD has on the X-bones sits a little too high, not sure if I would get rid of it or not. When I first sat on it I thought it sucked because of my inseam, but for some reason, I don't mind is as much now. Weird!!

My friend had replaced the original crossbones seat with a aftermarket one that was a bit larger.

I think that I may go the opposite way if I keep the spring seat on it. I would want the rest of the bike to stand out more, Picture a complete wrap around fender with a hinge and a tiny spring seat of it. OH YEAH! I would want the seat to sit completely in that pocket from where the fender meets the frame.
