The new twin cooled is not the traditional water cooled bike JoshBob. They are water cooling the exhaust valve and that is it. This allows people to run higher compression with way less detonation because the valve is cooler. For most Harley riders, that is what they want. I am not sure that I would buy one and when I build a 177 pr 120, it won't be water cooled.

I have made the final decision that I am going build this engine but I am going to take my time with it. My target date to have it completed will be the end of next riding season. So far what I have made preliminary decisions on are, displacement; cams; fuel delivery; crank assembly; oiling system. I will be in typical JohnnyBiker fashion scrutinize things over and over. Cams are one thing that will change the most.

If you are building.I would do a 113cu.
Better motor and last longer. And the gas milage would be a little better.
All the power you would ever need.
Yer frame would flex a lot too.

The new technolgy in harleys are a doube edged sword. They do address concerned needs bt unlike the old basic HD big twins yu're more often then not gonna fix them on the side of the road anymore.

I always felt the carbed evo 5 speed was as good as it needed to ever be for the average "Joe" rider. Miss having the choice of both kick and electric.

I know you don't like to hear this especially from me but sometimes its best to leave it be and just enjoy riding it. What happened to my bike was a factory part failure but that's not a wide spread issue with the others. I could make it into a hot rod as the service manager said and this would be the time to do it but as he also said when you build a bike up like that it can stress the motor more than what it was designed for. I know you know what is what's best for you but just saying pushing them to the outer edges of their design envelope so to speak can creat issues down the road. Just my 2 cents worth.

I could do that but I won't. To me it isn't really that big of deal. I still ride the bike as I am building the engine that I really want. My way, I will always have that 117" engine even after I sell the glide, just swap engines.

Looks like I am going to have to break down and go with S&S cases. All the other options I have looked at just won't work out the way I want them to. Oh well, such as life.

Call Phil he is an SNS dealer.

The other option is to just buy the HD 120R it's a
monster with all the bits done, out of the box 120+ HP
drop on a big SE intake and injectors, filter, then tune it.

It's still a lot of work but you can pull out your stock engine
put it in the 120 box and ride the bike until you sell it, pull the 120R
    for the next bike.
