shop around for a deal on a 120R, call all the dealers you can and get a discount,

Add up the parts for the cost of building a 117 or 124, then add the labor and work to put it together and I'll bet you come in close

Also SNS sells complete Twin Cam engines, just get a 124, however I will caution you, everything from the engine to the rear wheel WILL REQUIRE an upgrade, the stock HD trans can handle a good power increase but once you get into bulk cubes you'll need to invest in a baker, add to it a Rivera pro clutch or similar and you'll need the new HD compensator setup or you'll tear rotors up, mine did all the time.

And if it hooks up it's going to shred the belt so get a spare, and consider going to a chain because you'll have the trans out and the primary off during the build so it's a good time to replace the belt with a new HD belt or a chain.

Also while you're at it, be sure to get a full tuning system, T-Max, TTS, Power Vision, and get one that you have a good local tuner to work with,

Big inch twins are a blast, but they can turn a fun bike into a helicopter bike in a new york second...

Really? Man am I glad I bought that new compensator. I could have been totally wrong and used the stock one. I am so relived.

My 120 SNS pounded the center out of the stock rotor at least 4 times before we
welded up a spacer on each side to take the pressure off, comp was torqued over 100FT pounds and when it went the rotor would make a heck of a racket, comp never cam loose, but the vibrations and power just caused it to cut a perfect donut center out of the rotor.

Ran the Rivera Pro clutch and that wouldn't hold until I put the racing spring plate on,

    Went through three transmissions.

FUnny the stock belt held up, probably because I couldn't hook the rear tire on the street...

If you do go SNS get the SNS IST ignition box and system, it doubles the warrranty of the engine.

Nice thing about sns is you get a warranty, hd gives no warranty for the 120R

Have you done a budget do a spreadsheet run the numbers on the build with no warranty and a comparison first.

After some ball busting to figure out what heads I want to go with, I have finally decided on which heads I want to use. I am going to use the CVO 110 heads. Biggest reason I want to use then is that combustion chamber size is spot on where I want them to be if I go with flat top pistons. Of course, I will have them sent in to get a little massaging. :)

Funny how this all works, years ago I'm all about taking every junk stock piece off the bike and now I'm looking for all those junk stock pieces to put back on the bike

Today was a great day! Today I scored some major pieces for my 117 project. The parts that I scored are, a set of 110 cylinders; rocker arms; support plates; pistons; and the 110 heads. :) Scoring this stuff dropped me way below budget if I decide to use the usable components. :p

So what pistons are you going to run to get a 117 out of a 110.

Most likely am going to sell the stockers and go with the big bore with the longer spigot to accommodate the 4.5" stroke. I don't have much of a choice but to run a piston with a full skirt. Not sure on brand but am leaning towards CP

Don't know if you looked but SNS sells a 117 and 124 kit for 110 conversion and even in CVO Granite, which is the best color.

Now that my warranty is up, a nice 124 in 9.5 to 1 with dished pistons and
some mild 625 cams might be in order, if only the 110 heads can accommodate them.

Johnny I know yer gonna do things yer way .

But if I was wanting to build a motor. I would do a 113cu.
Got all the power you want. They will accelerate like no tomorrow.
If you drive them 1/2 way decent . You can get 1/2 way fuel milage.
    And it won't cost as much as a 117cu or a 124cu.
But it will run like hOmemade Hell dude.

This dude can't even wind the gears very far and go threw all of them.
    He runs out of road.

I've only got a 107 and it will scream dude. And still gets over 40 mpg on the hiway running 75.

Johnny you can go from a 88cu to a 107 cu. Will have to change yer crank out.
And it will probably give you all the Hp you could ever want.
    Will pull like heck.
Do yer homework on it dude.

Never seen the life of a 113+4 stay together as long as a 113cu motor.

    Yer build. you learn.
