If ever you've driven the by ways and back roads of Maine can't you feel where Stephen King got his motivation....I do/did. Spooky sh*t backwoods Maine.

No way! Lebanon? That's where I lived. How long have you lived there? I was just back there in December (flew that time).

Yep, been to Curtis' with the HOG chapter. Got stung by a bee there.

I know Derek. My son went to prep school. Biggest mistake I ever made. Well, that and quitting the phone company to work for Twin States H-D in '02. I was working at the med school when I left.

My son went to prep school till his jr year.

I never went to twin state I thought the owner was a jack off. Was Scotty ("suit")or Scot Puopolos working there then?

Did you know John Murphy at the phone company?

I did not leave on good terms. Something similar to your signature line. I don't think Scott was there when I worked there, but I dealt with him after I was finally able to walk back in the door a couple of years later.

I do know John. I was his supervisor. I'm worried though, because I know he had some health problems and you say that like he's not around anymore. Is he OK?

Its now Granite State HD and owned by 2 lesbians. I don't belive John is there, don't know where he is I'll ask around. Mark the parts guy is. Scotty("Suit") is the service manager and a nice guy. I go there now that it has exchanged hands.

I've heard about Granite State. I had a friend who was working there when it exchanged hands. Jess. She was doing the F&I. I don't know how the new owners are from a customer's perspective, but I heard they went in and hired a bunch of used car salesmen with no motorcycle experience. I'd say there was a lot of turn over when they came in, but there was a lot of turn over anyway. Actually, I think Twin States had finally settled down to a few people who could tolerate Donna, or at least could deal without telling her to go... well, you know.

Jess and I are still friends. I thought Mark left. At least he said that on Facebook a couple of months ago. He was the one person who'd been there from the start. I don't know how he put up with it. He got jacked around so much. I always wondered when he was going to lose it and pound someone.

I heard that John became the safety officer for the union, which means he'd be working out of Manch-Vegas and visiting all the garages in NH. Hopefully that's why you haven't seen him around. He's probably the only guy I worked with there that I'd have any interest in talking to again. Well, that's not true, but we got along better than I did with anyone else. Funny considering he was the shop steward and I was the boss. I really like John.

Sorrry folks, I've was gone for a couple days to a funeral. I enjoyed reading all the banter about Maine and jobs, and I know that is the reason Steven King is so crazy! Never knew anyone that could imagine such bizarro stuff as him. I worked for a very old company in Keene, NH. for a couple years, and always enjoyed leaving there every chance I could. I still have visions of the Amityville Horror when I think of that place.

Abbey, you have to be a very strong woman to do what you did and still do. I didn't have any family there and disliked the company I worked for, so it was very easy for me to leave. They were always trying to save a dime at the employees expense. Also, too many bad sandwiches. Ha!

Who said they didn't enjoy riding Hwy 550 from Durango to Ouray? I think that is the prettiest part of the State, and one of the best winding roads ever. Just not during a snow storm. And I almost met God that time! Incidentally, it's named the Million Dollar Hwy because that's what it costs the State to keep it open (from avalanches) all winter each year. Yup, a few have gone home to Heaven travelling that road.

Sounds like New Hampshire residents are moving enmasse to Colorado, lol.

Keene is a coolish little small town college town. They appear to be trying hard?

Which do you think is more treachorous....Dragons tail or Million Dollar Highway from Durango to Ouray? I say Million dollar hwy cause at least on the dragons tail you have a chance to survive initial the fall.

In December, it was about 70f. in the desert during the day, and got down to 40 at night. I didn't worry about bugs at night, but scorpions like a warm sleeping bag too.

The town was nice enough in the summertime, but that's where the term "Dead of Winter" came from. Also, nepotism was invented there, and I had the wrong last name.

To me, Hwy 550 is more challenging because there are no guard rails to keep you from plunging 2 - 3,000 ft. down if you slide off the road. They don't even try to pull out the wreckage after someone goes off.
