I can appreciate the sentiment of having to fight and scratch for things. That is why I am going to school and get into the career field that I want. Hopefully I can get to that point to where it is a lot easier than it is now. I think tomorrow will be a good indication of how my near future. :D

Having to do that for nearly 40 years does tend to make me a bit cynical. I worked hard to make the owners rich, and got stomach ulcers for myself and a pension fund that they robbed. Then, the bastards stated "Be glad you had a job."

What?? Me be sarcastic??? Should've stayed in the military. At least I would have had a pension.

On a happier note: life is new each day, and seeing what's around the next bend in the road on my Harley is what makes it a joy. With good health and a full tank of gas, what more could you ask for? Except maybe a good woman sitting behind you, right?

The origin of the name Million Dollar Highway is disputed. There are several legends, though, including that it cost a million dollars a mile to build in the 1920s, and that its fill dirt contains a million dollars in gold ore.
U.S. Route 550 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Actually there are lots of roads in Colorado that are great to ride with lots of twisties and pretty scenery.
None are as dangerous as 550 though.

You are correct sir! (my best Ed McMahon). Thanks for the neat link on that area. I still don't know how to do that. But as stories go, who knows what the first reason was for the nickname. Another good one is the nickname for the town of Telluride nearby. Some say it came from the old miners kidding each other "To hell you ride" to get there. Another comes from the chemical name of the mineral in gold called tellurium. After riding Hwy 550, I believe the first one is more apropriate.

Answers.com - When and why was NY called the Empire State

Upstate NY is beautiful, rural and rustic, spooky even. It has Indian reservations in North NY as well. Home of the Adirondack mountains and Lake Placid. Lake Placid/Adirongack mts and surrouding countryside make for some scenic and memorable 2 wheeled riding.

Southern NY is the azzhole of the east coast. If you don't believe me ride your motorcycle their some day...............

Obviously, you have not rode through many parts of Oregon. Beautiful rugged coast, Mountains of all varieties, deserts, high deserts, the Columbia gorge that changes the weather in the valley, Grand Canyon of the Snake River, Pine forests, to Douglas Fir forests and some of the thickest vegetation in a forests anyplace (like a jungle). Yea, western Oregon gets a lot of rain but central and eastern Oregon are rugged and beautiful in its own right, and dry. The riding here is as good as it gets anyplace and you could ride for weeks and not see it all. OK, I'm done bragging now, just couldn't help it. :D:D

there is more beauty in these united states than a person can visit in a lifetime!!!! all the states have their great roads and riding. i have ridden in the states east of the mississippi and a few west of it. im over 60 and hoping to ride those also. i just dont understand why folks have to go over seas to find beauty when there is such an abundance of it here.:D;)

I took 3 weeks to go from NH to San Diego and I really ran out of time with all the detours and pit stops I was taking. So so much to see and do.

A GPS is best for knowing which turn to make when you're in a big city, and traffic is coming at you fast. But otherwise, go where you want if you have the time.

Two years ago, I rode to Milwaukee to see H-D's 105th Anniversary. After being there 3 days, I decided to explore Michigan's Upper Peninsula after taking a ferry boat across Lake Michigan. Never knew Michigan was so beautiful.

I kept riding east until I ran out of road like Forrest Gump. Man, I loved that trip.
