Not if the tuner knows what he is doing and sets afr and ve tables correctly for engine build. A lot more goes into that then just entering some numbers. The tuner ABSOLUTELY needs to have a thorough understanding of how all of these coincide with each other.

There are a lot of horror stories listed on HTT with guys complaining about bad tuners. And remember this, usually, but not always, most people with more power will use it. Twisting the throttle harder and more often will drain gas faster than if if you have more power and are still polite to your wrist.;)

Regarding the OT, I fall half way between that desire to ride a touring bike and have an exhaust that can be heard.

I run Rush mufflers with moderate baffles. They are somewhat quiet at idle and cruising but still bark when I get on it. As for the radio, I'm one of those who doesn't use it that often.

As explained to me by a much experienced and excellent MMI trained mechanic to use a SE Street tuner or SE Pro EFI Super tuner for hd. Why? moco deeply embeds there codes and aftermarket tuners only fool and redirect the moco codes and why most other tuners like power commander leave riders stranded.

Many can call BS but if i ever get a tuner? thats the way i'm going. I just don't know enough about how that works. More horse power and the same or better MPG.....heracy i tell you, lol!

I've always used the Harley Tuner and had excellent results with them and won't use anything else. Myself and many others I know have used them for years and all trouble free.

SE tuner and TTS Mastertune are very similar
In fact the SE was developed for HD by TTS

I prefer tts since I have it and one of the best tuners
    doc here in Florida

These are better as you work in the ecm

The thunder ax is good, as is the IST from s&s

I'll stick with the SE tuner as I can go to almost any HD dealer in the country should I have an issue. However I've never had an issue with any SE tuner but did with a piggy back tuner back in 03 on a 03 Ultra I had.

Either is fine, both are widespread.

Did you get your baffles yet?

You guys hijacked my thread lol. That's okay though, it's all about mufflers.

The latest info on my cut-up ones is that I decided to put them on the shelf for now and went and got a set of HD SE slipons. I did this for two reasons and mostly because I was thinking about the upcoming Sturgis trip and spending 2 whole weeks in the saddle. First, these cut-up pipes are loud and look great and are great for lane splitting but, I lost the smoothness of the engine and a little throttle response. Second, I was thinking that if I had to get service on the road they may void my warranty due to the modification. I didn't want to give them any ammunition so I went with the HD stuff .

The learning curve is that the SE slipons are a lot quieter then I thought they where going to be. They do bark nicely at about half throttle which isn't too bad. But I guess I'm showing my age again when I say I like the quiet and I got the smoothness of this 103 back again and I like it. It's a love / hate relationship with either of these slipons I guess.

I just wanted to let everyone know how I honestly felt and pass it on.

I started another thread about removing the muffler cores on my SE mufflers along with photos. Then installing the Fullsac cores. They sound very nice, not to loud and not to quiet but think your right about showing your age cause I know I am. :)

Ya know if you could of given it time, the new pipes would of burnt out some and the sound would of gotten better.

That is the problem with new motor and stuff.
Takes time to break them in. Breaking them in and waiting to get some miles on them is touch.

Glad to hear you finally got a new bike.
