Here is a pic from a office building in my hometown of Oregon City this morning. Pretty awesome. Every time I see MT Hood from various places around here it just amazes me.

Great picture...Is that where Timberline Lodge is or am I confusing that with another area? Visited the Lodge back in the mid 60's with my parents and could not believe all the snow that was there in late June...Beautiful country out there...

Yes, that's where Timberline Lodge is at. Its a renowned ski area. The lodge was built with the old growth timber and stones from just below the lodge.
Here are a few picks I found of it. Great place to ride to in the summer and have lunch there. I know a lot of pics but it truly is a fantastic place. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Yup...That is it...Thanx for the pics...The Mt. Ranier area was pretty awesome too...You must have to carry a lot of clothes riding out there in the Summer...Pretty dramatic temperature swings as I remember...

Summer months are pretty good. You can cross the MTN passes in just a T-shirt as did Maddog and I last summer crossing through the mountains in Idaho and Montana.
Shoot the wife called me today from the Oregon coast. She was down in Newport as the nursing home where her mother is at called and said they took her to emergency. She's Ok but at 88 yea never know. Anyway she said the temp in Newport which sits right about the middle of the coast in Oregon was up to 71 today. I should have jumped on the bike and rode down there instead of doing yard work.

Dang, that's cold. Turnin' on lights overnite won't get it. Electricity must be cheap where you are - heated blanket will eat it up.

We don't have any gas available out where we live in the country so everything is electric including the furnace. We have a lot of Hydro Dams here. I also have a pellet stove that we run in the winter. Bikes are kept in the shop and during the winter I run the shop fluorescence lights which keeps the moisture off them.

I once had the crazy notion of keeping a pan or two of kitty litter in my shop near the bike to help keep moisture off of it LOL. Nuts, huh? But the moisture doesn't seem to be bad. I keep little packets of silica gel in the tool drawers and have had no issues with rust on them.

Where we live, we have far more humidity in the summer than at any other time.

Our summers are pretty dry and don't often see high humidity. We are only 90 miles from the ocean yet the humidity still is not bad. It's when it rains here in the winter and spring and the dew point gets just right that's when it happens, even the tools inside all the drawers will be full of moisture and the bikes are covered in moisture. Doesn't matter if I even cover the bikes but running those shop fluorescence lights stops it. It's raining hard right now then its gonna freeze next week getting down to 18. There is a cold front moving down on us from Alaska.
We get what we call a Pineapple Express, that's where the weather comes right at us from Hawaii. Brings warm weather and a lot of moisture as in rain. We also get a lot of high pressure areas that push the storms off the pacific right up and over to Sleepy's area in Canada, I know he really appreciates them as they usually dump a lot of snow on him.
