    Sorry forgot to mention that pump was 20 years old & we have 10 ft ceilings & yes it's all insulated the wife's house was built from scrape wood from the 1900 storm in Galveston :)

    Seer value is key the higher you get the more
    efficient the unit, invest in a 13 or 17 seer, and
    when you do plan for new ducts, the old ducts
    won't be able to handle the additional performance
    of the new equipment.

    If you have a hot water heater, gas, electric tank
    get rid of it and put in a tankless (I'm doing that next)
    buddy's gas bill went in half with the tankless that doesn't heat
    water while you dont need it heated.

    heat pumps work great
    even with my newer 13 seer we
    had electric bills in the $400 to $500 range
    this summer.

    Frankly the utilities have to make x dollars
    if we all cut use 20% they'd increase the rate 20%
    to recover the revenue...
