Heck, I was about half serious, too LOL. Nah, I knew sooner or later we'd get it sorted out. And yep - I'll never forget this lesson!
So, I went for a second ride yesterday afternoon and stopped in a Subway for a sandwich & lemonade. Reached in my wallet to pay and found a Subway gift card I had completely forgotten about. My mother-in-law, bless her heart, got it for me on my birthday last October. And being short on cash this weekend now I'll be able to eat on the road and not worry about other things - like $4+ a gallon gas .

I like how you resolved the issue and finished with the discovered Subway card at the end. Re browsed through thread from start to finish and was reminded of how the old Hardy Boys mysteries always came together in the end. Might sound corny, but thats what went through my head...Glad to hear your ridin again for not much coin out of pocket!

Yup, there are gaps in a lot of areas of my education - especially when it comes to mechanics. Knowledge is priceless! Yeah, this is a great forum. I have found the shovelheadusa forum to be very helpful as well. But I stumbled upon this forum first, back when I was first getting into computers - only a few short years ago LOL. I had to be dragged kicking and screaming (as they say) into the 21st century. New tech used to scare me - well, it still does, to be honest, the way we all rely so heavily on modern electrical gadgetry. So I still cling to the old way of doing things, like simple points/condensor ignition, things like that.

And I'll never forget how to time my shovel motor! Boy, it runs real good right now. I get 37 MPG. Not too bad for an antique. After cleanout, the motor usually cold starts in 1 or 2 kicks. It probably needs to be balanced, I think, but I'm just gonna ride it as it is. Shake, rattle & roll! Nothing has fallen off yet, so I figure it's not as bad as all that.

BP your right ,I've seen people come & go & a few pass over ,all have been good for the site , some left saying it's to Harley anymore , some left saying it to much for the Republacans , But they all help out while they where here , I know I've had help for a lot of the riders here ,& have tried to help others who ask a question , it's better then a second home cause I get to pick my family here LOL
