I'll jump in on riding, most women that i know around here ride softails of one variety or another a few ride Dyna Low Riders and a couple ride touring bikes that are lowered. I agree that Sporty's are top heavy, or I call them neck heavy meaning when you turn they act like they want to fall over. My wife rides a Fatboy she is 5'-6 and 125. Get the experience that you think you need and don't let anyone rush you into something you're not comfortable with, it's your life you're messing with not there's. JMO

When on the Sporty I do feel like I'm going to tip when slowing down or come to a stop. That is exactly how I feel, but when I get going then I'm fine. I'm only 5'-4 and on my Suzuki the way the seat is I feel more set into the bike which I feel I have way more control. I think a fatboy would be great, I have sat on a couple of those and the setting of the seat is into the bike.

Fatboys are nice. Might be a little heavy for you tho.

Yea, I was thinking that too but I might be alright. I guess this summer I need to spend some time test riding some. :)

Sounds good. You do have a DL motorcycle endorsement I presume?
If so you can go to your local H-D dealership and test ride.

Yes, I have my endorsement and believe it or not during that class was the first time that I rode a bike and the first time that I operated a clutch vechile!!
I did awesome though, people with bike experience asked how I was doing so good, guess I was born to ride! :D

So your 5'-4" and born to ride, huh? Sweet deal. All that's left to do is get your motor running and head out on the highway!! Go looking for adventure or anyone that comes your way. Just don't drop a sportster on yourself 'cause that would really suck!
    Take care HR!

Wow, I was thinking of painting my blue bike a nice pearl white with ghost flames. That is too funny! I have the color picked out and all. There a few different pearl whites, some are like abalone, extremley hot!
I am planning to repaint it soon, prolly after selling the red bike. It will be either the pearl white or I will have the same blue paint job recreated. I got a quote of about $3500 to redo the blue, ouch! She's worth it tho.
Yes JB was asking about the red bike. I think he has since lost interest.
Okay your turn, got pics of your bike with the dual carbs (remember thats what this conversation was about)? heehee.

Tell ol JB to get some shorter shocks on the sporty
and a narrow seat so you fit better, that way you can ride
safely while he's working on your bike

Fatboys balance very well, not hard to hold up at all. I'd just make sure it had engine guards on it. just in case, I've seen tall guys lay their bike over from being overly confident or not paying attention. And not many can pick any bike up by their self.

My FXE is balanced very well, she never feels like she is gonna fall. She's fairly low to the ground tho. I'm not sure if I could pick her up off the ground by myself. She weighs about 650 lbs. I used to have a Honda Shadow that I learned to to ride on and it always felt like it was gonna flop over on you. And it did too. I musta dumped it at least 6 times. Very unstable bikes. They are built like a sportster, short and tall with a high sitting position. I had to pic that baby up off the ground many times. It was lighter than my H-D's are tho. I think the shadow was about 475 lbs.
HOTRIDER will notice if and when she shifts to a bigger bike how much more safe and stable it will feel.

I think HotRider will do just fine on the Sportster. I am not going to make her ride if she is uncomfortable with it, but I guess I would to see her give it more of a chance. She has only been on the Sporty twice. In all honesty, I think that it is more the amount of money that has been put into the bike and the power that has that intimidates her. I am really proud that she is even on a bike. She has come along way form where she was a year ago.

Anything broken on a harley can be fixed or replaced, no need to worry.
How much money did you put into your sportster?
