    Yep, there are differences
that can happen, plus, who knows
once you get the numbers you can
target the best cam for your objective.

I don't remember who it was but at one point someone had mentioned that maybe my air cleaner/intake could have been allowing too much air or restricting it somehow. Well, I think that I am going to put the stock air cleaner on and give it one more shot on the dyno. My guy inquired about that yesterday but I sort of blew it off, but today I sat and thought about it and why not give it a shot? I basically get free dyno time.. :D

Well you are a bit rich in a few areas and
I'll bet the stock filter makes it worse (Richer)

My example doesn't have numbers because, well, it
is just an example, plus you can pretend you like algebra

If the heads flow x Cfm and the intake and carb y cfm, then
the max air the heads can get, presuming y > X is y.

Now if you add a filter that pulls 2Y air
and the carb intake can only take 1y air you
still can't get more than 1y air to the engine
as the carb/ intake restrict air.

However if you put on a filter that has less than Y flow
capabilities say Z then you will only flow Z air.

Basically stick a finger up one side of your nose and go jog
see how that works out for ya...

Now this presumes the aftermarket filter you have
on the bike now isn't restricting anything.

If it were me I'd pull the aftermarket filter
and see if the numbers (AFR) and power
change. If you start leaning out you
know the filter is restricting you...

    Hp and tq

Do both. Get a pull with the stuck filter and one with no filter.

    See what happens

JMO but peak hp and tq numbers
are just for forum and bench racing
they really don't mean a lot and they
    don't make the bike fun

What you have to concentrate on is
getting a long smooth high tq curve
that's what you feel and that's the fun

There is no HP without TQ

HP is just a number showing the work the tq is doing at a
    given rpm

focus on a better tq curve should be the goal

post the sae chart I want to see it.

It's still pretty rich up to 4000RPM's if you're going back to play on the dyno again, maybe drop the needle 1 notch, see what happens...I believe an AFR of 13.5(give or take a little) makes the most power...

Horsepower is a theoretical calculation, Torque is everything. :D

I wasn't referring to just that specific thing, actually not at the AFR at all.. Just being a smart ass. I am not bent at this point because we will be back on the dyno again soon. :D We are having fun playing. Actually, I took a close look at my receipt yesterday and I was charged 10 bucks for gas, 3 bucks for a jet and 42 for that cycle pro kit that was installed. Charged nodda for labor, or actuall dyno time..:D

well JB got my bike on the dyno and it has 72 hp and 75 pounds of torque. the dyno man said it was a little rich but he didnt think going to a smaller main would make much difference. so i think im going to stay where i am but i may change my carb to a s&s super e just for the hell of it and because i have one allready from a nother project

Most likely a dynoJet. That is cool, I hope that you like what you got? Just a thought though, I would probably keep the cv carb on it. If your guy is saying that you are a little rich now, I have heard that the Super E tend to dump a lot of fuewl and are harder to tune than the cv. Just a thought..

Today I took Whip out for a 60 mile ride. It was a little cold but not as bad as yesterday. I brought her up to 100 mph with not even a single hesitation. she got there faster than ever before. I passed two cars in heartbeat. I started my passing at the speed off 60 and by the time I got passed both cars I was at 85.:D I think that my bike is going to have the carbon cleaned out in no time. with Whip responding like that I would have to say that it is almost better than sex, but not really that close....:roflmao:;)
