Is the ethanol blended gas any cheaper than the non-ethanol gas? Ethanol gasoline is currently unavalable, as far as I know, here in Massachusetts. Given a choice I would likely buy the ethanol gas. If there was a performance issue, I would buy the "regular" gas for my bike and the blended for everything else.

Most gas stations here charge the same price for 87 or 89/90 octane gas which I think is the same stuff with more ethanol....It doesn't really make sense to me since as I said earlier all gas in Minnesota is supposed to have a minimum blend of 10% ethanol except for use in vintage/offroad vehicles.

I thinks it is a good idea to have a posted gas-pump for vintage and or off-road / performance vehicles, like MOTORCYLES. Premium fuel for those that care.

Hmmm..interesting read. They just opened the first ethanol pumps here in Las Vegas at a couple of filling stations. Starting out at $1.99 a gallon when the average around town now for gasoline is $2.49 is an eye-opener. I surely won't put it in my bike, but am curious about how my Dodge Dakota would run on it. The few pumps in town are too far to drive to just to fill your tank, but I wouldn't mind trying it once just to see.

    Ethanol

When I lived in the Midwest (Iowa, Illinois, etc) and even when back on vacation, I run the ethanol in all but my bike. I have had an old CJ-5 (1979), Honda Civic, Ford F150 (1987), Dodge Spirit (now THAT was a piece of SH*T, but not due to the gas), and just got back from vacation to Iowa where I drove a 2002 Impalla up and a 2005 F-150 Supercrew back.....never had any problems with any of them due to gas. I do tend to run high grade in the bike....even in Germany at a German gas pump without gas coupons paying about 1.30 EUROS per Litre (so about 5$ per gallon or so). Let me tell you how much fun it was to pump $25 into a motorcycle!!! Good luck on your gas!

Ethanol does have a couple of good points to it but, why all the phony hype as to how were saving all this money, saving all this oil, saving all the world ? At least our farmers are making out. ;)

    the news was

just heard it on the news about the EPA has different standards per state
currently there are 40 some grades of gasoline...the story wasabout the price of crude but the individual they were talking to on this subject said that is why if PA cannot get gas form NJersey(vice versa) and some places like out West cant get gas gradesfrom the next state either due to what tree huggers in the state (he called them local activists) are whining about (he said concerns are)
this does not answer the question but funny how this was just on the news the other day
