I expect your bike to be a screamer. From the way it sounds, you have put a great deal of investigation, deliberation , blood, sweat and gears into it and that will all payoff for ya. Congrats!

I bet you are! I saw some your winter ball at the Twins stadium! Ha! Why didn't they just put a dome over it knowing what your springs are like????

I wish I could answer that one but I can't. I don't understand many things that this state does. Unusual year really. Temps lower than normal, a lot of moisture coming from everywhere. :banghead::banghead:

On your '99 casting heads, opening up the exhaust port a little can increase velocity...I didn't know your headers were 1 7/8,I thought you were just looking at changing brands of head pipe, and you already had 1 3/4" headers,so that's why I was suggesting to run what you got....

No worries. I want really badly to keep the exhaust that I have because I like the look and the sound of them. However, if they hurt performance in a big way, they will have to go. I am revisiting this topic just to get reacquainted with what is out there, and in typical JB fashion, I am drawn towards obscure items.:D

They are the Vance and Hines Dresser or Classic Duals.

Yeah prolly...If you check out V&H site under "Headers" They only make "Dresser Duals" to fit your bike and I'm pretty sure(not 100% sure, but close:)) all V&H exhaust systems use 1 3/4" head pipes...

Does anyone know of any dyno comparisons made between Vance and Hines and other mufflers? I personally feel that Vance and Hines are highly over rated. I can only compare them with Rush Mufflers, and my comparison is based on sight (the crome job on the Rush looked better), weight (Rush mufflers are heavier), sound (Rush mufflers are slightly louder at idle, but really open up when you get on it). Over all I just felt the Rush was a better built product than the Vance and Hines, but I guess the real proof of performance gains should be in the numbers. I would love to see a dyno shootout between Vance and Hines and the other guys. IMHO

    Aloha.....Mike

I could be wrong here, but.......I think the term "opening up the ports" may be a little deceptive. The goal is to reshape the ports to reduce restriction to air flow. Going to bigger pipes would lower the exhaust velocity not increase it. JMHO

Its the fact that those exhaust ports have a chity short turn. They could use a bigger seat and valve to have the short turn come in much better ! Its and awfull bend for the exhaust to flow out of it don't take much digging in that exhaust port to screw them up!

Yeah, deceptive,I didn't mean hog 'em open...how 'bout worked a little;)...If I remember right, the exhaust port on the '99 casting heads was their bottleneck... They didn't flow as well as the Evo heads...but that's why I leave that chit to the pros...give me 10 minutes with a die grinder and I can turn a nice set of heads to scrap aluminum :roflmao:

And Yep again JB's not looking to put on larger head pipes....

V&H pipes I've had pro pipe and long shots none ever
had any issues, they are very well made, I'd go black
because every 2-1 I've seen turns either gold or blue
at the collector, typically from improper tunes, you
just don't see that in black pipes LOL

    Personally I don't have a problem with a 2-1 on a bagger
it's different, looks good if done right, the falsee is just more money
and dead weight for the looks but the owners personality is the
reason, jmo if you like the duals get duals...

The Reinharts are good headers some of the best and
the mufflers are good, loud though buddy had them and
they just hurt your ears under acceleration the tone
they hit was harsh not cool if you were near them,
lots of folks love them though..

Talk with your tuner about the pipes and if he's not willing
to take the time to get true duals right and you want them
    you need another tuner... jmo

If you want the best true duals a good header with supertrapp
tuneable slip ons are optimum because once the tune is worked on fuel
and timing they can fine tune with disks on the pipes, with non tuneable
mufflers you are limited to fuel and timing...

I agree, if they can't accomplish what it is that I want, no sense giving them my money. I know MCC will take the time. Duals is what I want most so all efforts will go to tuning those first.
