Yeah I agree with you on Texas. Heck I have thought about Arizona. Even Georgia gets too dang cold end of Dec thru about the end of February. Oh well at least I can enjoy the afternoon rides right now. The morning rides are a bit chilly.

Wow, snow already? How much did you get? The farmers almanac did call for a COLD winter up north. Stay warm and put a nice warm blanket on the bike.

    Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

OK, I am getting tired of this now. It is only November and we are already having January temps! Yesterday morning it was 27, this morning we warmed up to 31 and tomorrow morning they are calling for temps in the lower 20s. This is crazy! Hey guys whatever happened to Global warming. Maybe I need to send Al Bore an email. :banghead: :gah:

OK rant is over! hahahahaha BUT it is COLD in GA right now. I want to ride but hard to motivate myself with temps below freezing. How about the rest of you? OK, I know that AFNurse has some OK riding right now but heck it is even cold in Texas.

Winter is coming early up in Minnesota. Went from mid 70's 3 weeks ago to only 16 degrees this morning. We had a dusting of snow Sunday and the salt trucks have been out already. So now I am done ridin until spring rains come and wash the salt away.

Rode to work this morning, and it was a cool 51, at 5:30AM. The ride home this afternoon was 80. I can hardly handle it. :D

    Cold rides

I just wish i could ride!!
Just had surgery on right wrist from a bike wreck I had last year. 45 was my cutoff point unless it was a special occasion and i never had to worry about the gear. Jeans and leathers were enough. Now I am older the cold get me. I am planning a ride next year that will involve temps in the 90s to the 30s. Any sugestions on cold weather gear and rain gear?

i dont know if you plan on pullling a trailer or not, or how long ya gonna be gone. but for the cold riding i would check in to the heated clothing that is available from different mfgs. they plug into the bike. stay away from heated grips...the fail alot. heated seats may be ok. when outfitted with heated clothing you dont need so much outer wear. keep us posted!!!:)

chucktx beat me to the draw on that one but when I ask about cold weather riding the only thing I hear is heated clothing that you plug into a pigtail that connects to the battery. I have looked at a couple of sites and Harley has them as well. To the best of my memory Harely was not much more expensive than the other places for the same brand of gear. But if you are going to be spending this winter healing (GET WELL SOON) then start googling for heated or electric biker clothes. They have vest inserts for the jackets, pant inserts, gloves and even socks if I remember correctly. Take care and get well soon. I too have my limit as to how cold I will ride and last time I tested it 35 was about the magic number unless like you said there was something special.

Chucktx is correct electric heated is very good, light weight and you don't always have to plug it or turn it on. Heated grips have failed me in the past so I use heated gloves now. Unlike some of my friends I care my gloves year round. Gerbing's Heated Clothing // The World's Warmest Clothing! has all the stuff you will need, they make the gear for Harley, and it's cheaper too.
They also make battery operated equipment but I think plug in is better. Around here vest and gloves is pretty much the norm for year round riding.

Thought about heated vest and gloves, but we only need it for a few months here, it was down in the 30's last night, cold for us.

Bud has heated grips on his CVO ultra and they don't work well,

I'd say gloves socks and vest

BTW for a couple of pennies you can go to walmart or any outdoor shop they have the little heated sacs you open them up and they heat up fast!

slip two in your gloves and your hands stay warm all day, at a couple of pennies each they are better than nothing.

Also put some latex (or non latex if you are allergic) gloves in your bags, on rainy and/or cold days slip them on and inside your regular gloves, cuts the cold down.
