The pace of life is too fast, and we got a lot of new young riders.
You are on your own if you got a problem.

You could stop to help somebody nowdays and git robbed or motorcycle jacked.
    Old School is gone man.
Only the old folks believe in it.

I don't think it would be very smart to try and rob or bike-jack a "harley" rider. Especially some of the guys here! Ouch!

Not sayng it will happen. But times are getting tough.

Yea yer Badd, come and tell the new younger punks here that.
They have a brotherhood, its called a Gang.
They had just as well shoot you as tell you to run. And they ain't scared of you.
They might have a initialization for the club and that requires them to shoot somebody to prove themselves.

They are more of them than you.

I slow down and really look around before I ever stop for somebody on the side of the road.

That's for sure....not long ago I ran out of gas on the highway...a fairly busy one for around here....no less than 30 bikes rode by in the hour I was there...3 waved:roflmao:25-30 years ago the 1st bike that came by would have hung a U turn or pulled over to see what was wrong....brotherhood....not anymore....even the guy that drove my buddy out to bring me some fuel passed by me about 20 minutes earlier:rolleyes: then tried to tell me if anyone in his club rode by they would have stopped....I looked at him and said"You passed by me didn't you?"

I'll still stop if I see someone on the side of the road....pretty much have to stop because I found out most of them don't know what the thumbs up or thumbs down means....

I find it interesting that a thread about how Harley has flooded the market with bikes turns into a thread about "male machismo" chest pounding bullshiit!!! Who is a a real biker??? :roflmao: How stupid!! Do you guys really have to convince yourself that hard??? :wtf:

No I haven't,don't watch much TV...I'll see if I can check it out sometime...

I don't think it turned into a "Macho Man" or "I'm a Real Biker" thread....I think it kinda turned into how it was a generation or two ago, that if you came across a guy on the side of the road, you stopped to help another motorcycle enthusiast out, whether it's help get the bike running, offer moral support,or go get gas if that's what was needed and it didn't matter what brand of cycle it was,as opposed to today's rider that won't even look your way if you're stranded...don't know if it's a "biker" thing or not or just the way the human race has evolved...
You're a young gun JB and kinda new to the motosickle world...If you saw someone on the side of the road, would you stop??

I do agree this and many threads do go off subject, many times probably due to the fact that there just is not much more to say about that subject. Or someone says something in a thread that carries it into another subject but many time it come back. However I can remember a lot of BS and threads going off topic by a certain young individual here,

Some threads seem to go on forever and ever about things like a certain cam or some other thing when in fact they should have ended long before they did as they seem to be just endless saying the same thing over and over. So many times when it goes off subject yea it should have ended and started in a new thread but its very easy to just add onto it with a new subject and many times it becomes a more interesting subject.

It's not that folks don't care anymore Cardboard, it's a dangerous era to do it, especially in the city.

I've been riding continuously for 53 years, some of those years on metrics. My first H-D was an '85 FL that I bought when my new Triumph Bonniville had heart burn (burnt valves) at 1400 miles, and the dealer wouldn't fix it under warranty. I guess you could call me a new Harley rider too. As a matter of fact, when I worked for H-D, they hired me because I was qualified for the job But more importantly, because that 85 FL had nearly 80,000 miles on it at the time. They put their trust in me, and I gave them my loyalty, and won't apologize for that.

It's funny though, 30 years ago when I rode a Japanese bike and broke down on the road, only the Harley guys stopped to check on me. Today, I may think twice about stopping to check on someone on side of road if I'm travelling and in a big city. I figure there are plenty of their own friends close by to help them if it's legit. I'm wary of stopping and getting robbed and shot in the city.

Out in the distant country, I will always stop when I see someone on side of road. But I will have my gun close at hand.

I'm not sure of some of your terminology Badinfluence, but we were ALL new Harley riders at some point. I bet everyone on this forum had a smaller Japanese bike at one time too, so condemning them for "come lately" Harley riders is nonsense.

It used to be the "mid-life crisis" that got men thinking about a sports car or a motorcycle before they were too old to enjoy. So what? Why criticize them if they're riding and having fun? I don't take offense at the new riders looking like "Wild Hogs" today--I just laugh and enjoy their antics. You can't make everyone believe as passionately as you do. Lighten up!

I ride over 30,000 miles a year and my bike is still shiny and so are my H-D leathers. They are 30 years old, but I keep em lookin new cuz I'm proud to wear them.

You are right about one thing though: the metric boys that once cursed H-D's are now riding one, or one of the stupid imitations.

You know that is one of the nice things about being from a smaller town. Around here, would be rare you have to worry about someone broke down and it being dangerous. Bet its the same for Joshbob... ;)
