Pack your gun, then you don't have to worry about it, unless of course you can't shoot straight and you run out of bullets. Then you got one pissed off bad guy.

Unfortunatley its not nonsense and its a damn shame.

As you know there was a period where HD's were not the most popular bike it was the GPZ's,Ninja's etc..and it is those folks, the folks who chase whats in,whats popular who swell the ranks today, skipping over the time honored actual brotherhood that existed and still exist in a more underground culture because its easier to don the perceived "biker holloween costume". Thats nothing to lighten up about. Just because thats the way it is doesn't mean thats the way it has to be. Or if you can't beat them join them...not.

Amongst the HD riders culture of today there are multi layers of us versus them that exist. While there are a lot of posters filling motorcycle forums there are even more riders who do not bother with WWW foums(I can't help it, it passes the time at work away and every now and then I run across a good person or 3). Those would be most of the old school riders who feel strongly that they have nothing in common with todays just add water and stir do rag wearing low miliage riders. Further the poser crowd has moved from the sidewalk to owning bikes. It is such an identified market they even sell gadgets that will, as you trailer your bike, add miles to your bike so you appear to be a rider..I sh*t you not.:roflmao:

I have no problems with whatever get up outfit a rider choses, hell at 56 I treated myself to one of those expensive HD leather jackets that I only wear on special occasions, for the most part. I just observe that most of todays new age supercial HD rider invest way to much effort into a perceived look at the expense of the HD riders code of honor, the true meaning of brotherhood, not just a word thrown around cause you think it sounds and makes you look cool and tradition.

Back in the day and when I use to walk to school backwards and in the snow with no shoes the riders I looked up to and who were the dominant HD crowd were the black jacket wearing long hair, bearded and tattoed hd riders. Those guys looked like sh*t to society, behaved even worse, were outcasts of society and compared to the follow the leader he's on a Honda crowd...well you get the picture. But when you got to know them they had a code of honor. They had there brothers back. They were not the lets do lunch call me, douche bags that dominate the HD riders scene today.

Lighten up...nah..I just lone wolf it,stay in touch with my life long friends and continue taking the 2 wheeled path less taken. If the rally is that way,I'm going the other way, nothing like a good ride ruined by a gaggle of former sidewalk commando's,speed boat riding, lets do lunch ruining my view, lol.

I've had a bike non stop but as a consequence of responsibillities I took a 15+ year hiatus from the 2 wheeled world and this is what I come back too...its crap in my opinion. Believe me I've tried to acclimate, no luck. I'm an ahole by todays HD riders standards. I can't flower up my opinion which amounts to butterfly kisses up someones arse, I don't speak politically correct, I speak my mind and encourage others to as well....the good and the not so good.

So..I have my network of riding friends from back in the day, albeit spread around the country now. We're all kinda waking up from the haze and blur of raising our families while scrambling to ride the remaining years, as the clock slowly counts down..............

Very well said Badinfluence. I respect what you have to say, and understand what you feel. I worked for H-D during those lean years and took a lot of guff from nearly everybody, but I was loyal and owe the hard core Harley riders a lot.

Today, I think of riding mostly as recreation and not as part of my job. So I look at all the good I get from riding and tend to ignore the comments I get from the pseudo bikers AND the old corps bikers cuz I don't look the part (clean-cut with nice leathers). If people judge you solely by the way you look.......screw em, I'm happy to be alive and still doing what I love.

Whew...I'm relieved to sense we have more in common then not and that we are probably alot alike. Thats way excellent you use to work for HD and relate to that time I referenced.

I can dig your new leathers and your zeal for having them.. I think after all these long years as a die hard thru thick and thin HD loyalist I deserved that expensive HD leather coat(never owned one) and the new Ultra(Had a few new ons over the years). For me its a payoff if you will for the many years of being an lifetime HD loyalist. At 56 years old I feel on top of my HD game when I'm tooling down the road on my new Ultra and my spiffy new HD leather jacket, lol. I know many may view me, not knowing me, as one of those just add water and stir riders..I know different, lol andlike you said..I don't care.

Kudo's and hats off to you Alex! I mean it. If you ever get this way you're welcomed here. If you do get up this way PM me and I will send you my addy and phone number. I have a 3 bedroom house and the kids are sorta gone.

I think most of us are more alike than you know. Reading all these posts we all seem to have a lot in common. :)

They tried to take over the whole market, and now they're eating some humble pie. So are all the metric mfrs. with many unsold bikes clear back to 2007.

H-D deservedly has 65% of all motorcycle registrations in US.

Stacking the entry level GW next to the entry level Ultra I feel the Ultra is more bang for your buck money wise with the only slight advantage in my opinion is GW has 6 cylinders and water cooled.

Why? Because the entry level GW is $23,900 base and goes up as you add on for another 3-4 options to $29,550(motorcycle air bag?).

The comparitive Ultra already comes with everything for $21,799. Yes there is the Limited,$24,199 but thats no bargain anymore, not in 2013 and not until the put the 110 motor in it anyways. Then there is the CVO Ultra for $37,599..are you friggin kidding me? Does the bike rub you ***z as you ride!:roflmao:

Don't wannna rock the boat but I thought that there was quite a price gap between the Ultra and the Limited. I was thinking apples to apples..security and ABS and my number shows 1200 difference. If you like the chrome wheels and the heated grips [I really like those!!!!] the difference isn't that much. Up this way the dealer are mostly buying limited's

The price difference between the Ultra and the Limited is 2400$. The difference between the Ultra and the Base GW is 2100$...if I did the math accurately:banghead:.

Here's what Harley's USA website gives me

    MSRP Limited Black 24199

    MSRP Ultra Black 21799

    difference 2400 dollars...you're right

but I wanted to compare an Ultra apples to apples as to a bike I'd like as ABS was a must have for me so to get the ABS you get security as well for the tune of 1195 dollars so my difference was 1205. So I thought that 1205 dollars for chrome wheels, heated grips a power outlet in the trunk wasn't that bad a deal. Had I opted for the wheel option on a regular ultra and had the dealer put on the heated grips it would have been a wash on dollars out the door

no fancier, just laid out a little different. What you don't get with the limited is the front fender bumper nor the saddle bag rails that the Ultra has

The Goldwing does not have heated grips and does not have a built in CD player or a CB . The ultra standard even comes with those things minus the heated grips. So the Ultra with the 103 is a better buy. All the Ultra needs is a set of pipes and it's a pretty Goode ride. The one thing for me is a must is getting the cat out.
If you are around 6 foot your legs will be cramped up and on a hot day when those radiator fans kick in on aGoldwing all that heated air blows back on you. I know I owned a 1500 and a 1800 Goldwing.

Yep and a few more things to, like a back massage as you ride :D

Actuality if you add up the price of all the extras installed on a CVO it would cost you more to add those items on to a stock bike. I like mine and don't feel bad at all for buying one.
